Why is a private organization begging us for money for something the government should be doing?

Do NOT take this post wrong. I am fully in support of our military guys. I am a veteran. I hate the idea that our guys are being so badly abused by the cabal.

But why is this sort of thing needed? Would we not do better to use this money to put pressure on bushco to do something? Or are we now to privatize the support of our Purple Heart recipents?

http://www.fallenheroesfund.org/fallenheroes/about/

The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund is constructing a world-class state-of-the-art advanced training skills facility at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. The center will serve military personnel who have been catastrophically disabled in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The center will also serve military personnel and veterans severely injured in other operations and in the normal performance of their duties, combat and non-combat related.

The center will encompass a 60,000 square foot structure, providing ample space and facilities for the rehabilitation needs of the patients and their caregivers. It will be constructed on a site sufficient in size to meet the needs of the center’s patients and caregivers and will include $35 million in top of the line indoor and outdoor facilities.

Why do I get the feeling this is a RW nutjob front for something nefarious?

1. Hmm.. We could always see who the Board of Directors support..
..politically.

Does seem strange that it's a private operation..

2. Well...Imus IS a right wing nut......
...but that said I AM sure this center will give extremely good care to a small number of veterans...That said if you go to the actual link and check the overview you will find there are virtually no medical services save prosthetics and physical therapy....on the right/wing side there is an advanced simulator to train these lucky few to "fire small arms with prosthetic limbs"...So yeah...a little weird...Make sure to read how the simulator uses "a bottled gas feedback" to simulate recoil for "a variety of weapons"....
