Why didn't Patrick Leahy and the rest of the dems....
Just get up and walk out when Alberto declindo to be sworn ino.....

They should have just declared the proceedings a farce....

And walked out....

That's what an opposition party does...

When it is acting....

Instead of reacting...

4. All I can say is this....
They better start doing something or the normal people, those not obsessed with politics, will have no faith in them either....

8. maybe they didn't want to piss arlen off--after all, he decided to
host this lavish event, right?

"normal" people? you mean we're not "normal"? (shit! i was hoping that one day i would become normal!)

i want to know who is on this subcommittee that delay got on? the one that is investigating abramoff.

i want the dems to boycott that--get up and walk out--until delay either gets kicked off or excuses himself.

(if they walk out will the committee have to shut down? if it does the msm can say what those horrible dems did, then the "horrible" dems can tell the country WHY they did it! it's called "delay has a conflict of interest")

6. Well, I'm glad they didn't.
The way the media works, instead of the story being the good questions Leahy, Feingold, Feinstein and even Biden asked, the only story would have been about the Dems walking out.

Walking out might have felt good, but it would have not have achieved anything toward exposing what this bushco crowd is doing with our civil liberties.

7. yeah it would have ...
by walking out, they would have had to explain WHY to the public in the media.

that would have EXPOSED EVERYTHING THE FUCKING PRESS IS IGNORING.

12. I would rather have had them ask substantive questions of
Gonzalez, which they did, rather than focus on the side issue of Spector not requiring him to be under oath.

In fact, that issue got a lot of coverage on the television I saw.

9. So you would rather the media treat the Dems like
a small child...

Isn't Patrick just the smartest little Senator...

Oh my, Look how Joey's eye brows knit when gets angry...

No one pays attention to scoring parlimentary points that are absolutley meaningless...

The people out there in the great beyond only know that Alberto was talking in front of the committee.... They have no idea he was doing so under no legal obligation...

That is just bullshit... And the Dems should have walked out to prove to the American Public that this is all just an act, a sham, and call it what it is, the imperial presidency of George W. Bush....

13. No, I would not rather have the media trheat the Dems like a small child.
I didn't say that at all.

Rather, I think that had they made the dramatic gesture of walking out, not much else would have been talked about at all.

It just seems important to stick to the subject - - illegal wire tapping by this radical regime - - rather than draw the focus to their behavior.

11. Can you say WIRETAPS ?? Y'all need to read this article!
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 04:53 AM by Breeze54
I mean, bush has been secretly wire tapping
thousands of AMERICANS since 2001!!
Rumor has it he's been wiretapping political opponents!
I mean, how did Sen. Kennedy get on a 'no-fly' list?
Do you actually think that was a 'mistake'?
Get real!

Save the USA
http://benfrank.net/blog/2006/02/07/why_not_go_thru_fisa/

The purpose of the FISA court is to ensure that administrations
do not spy for partisan political reasons. The warrant requirement
is to ensure that a panel of independent federal judges hears a
legitimate reason for the spying, thus protecting a president
from the temptation to abuse the powers of government.
The only reason for the Bush administration to evade the court
is that the Bush administration had no legitimate reasons for its spying.
This should be obvious even to a naif.

Why is it that no elected officials are capable of speaking this simple truth?

They didn’t go thru FISA because they were spying regularly on Americans!
- not al Qaida-
FISA wouldn’t have approved.
It’s been verified that the gov’t has been spying on Catholic workers,
peace groups, the Truth Project, & even Quakers…
perhaps they were also spying on Dennis Kucinich, Ralph Nader
and others during the 2002 and 2004 election season.
This is exactly the reason Nixon was going to be impeached,
for spying on political oppponents.
Why can’t the Democrats in DC speak to this? It’s been long enough…
now they had the big hearing where Gonzales wasn’t even sworn in.

"The Mercury News on Gonzales’ testimony:
The administration’s response boils down to this:
Trust us, we’re spying on terrorists.
The answer is inadequate, particularly for an administration whose
reservoir of trust with the American people is dangerously close to empty.

Now “Magic Bullet” Specter says to wait a few weeks for another hearing…
this is such BUllSHit.
It’s all been exposed- there is no need for further investigation-
Gonzales lied in his confirmation hearing!

* They’ve been spying on political oppenents since 2002.
* They withheld this information from the public before the 2004 election.
* Bush lied to his supporters on the campaign trail.
* Bush knowingly disregarded the Constitution and broke the law
by ordering spying without a warrant.
* Bush admitted to an impeachable offense on national tv.

They have no legal justification- period.

No person is above the law, not even the president.
Therefore, if we are to be a country governed by law,
the entire Bush Administration must be impeached.

What is wrong with the 535 politicians in DC?

Are they incompetent, complicit or afraid?
