When Clinton reduced the amount spent on Defense . . .
The repigs didn't point out the difference between "cutting" and "reducing the increase" like they try to do with "social programs" now.

They screamed their fool heads off, saying that Clinton was "gutting our defense" and "sticking it to the military personnel".

Now, though, Repukes have to explain that "no, it's not really a cut, it's just spending less" (even when it is cutting).

Remember, Bush once said something about cutting back on a promised increase was a CUT . . .

1. Clinton implemented the Cheney cuts he set in motion under Bush41
So they couldn't complain using logic.

So the GOP as always skipped the logic AND WENT WITH THE BEST FOCUS GROUP BUZZ WORDS.

And our media went along with the GOP approach.
