Last night's Capital Evacuation - my concern is: office info left exposed
What would Rove do to get a look at congressional office info he wanted?

Answer: Anything.

ps - not even a mention of the "alarm" in my local paper today.

1. Very interesting thought!
and although one hates to say it out loud..ahummmmmmm...but may well be the reason for the whole evacuation.

2. I told my wife it looked like a publicity stunt
as I only saw republican senators getting their faces on camera saying: "see, we've got a long way to go to make this country safe again", that kind of nonsense.

4. Yep. Serves the usual "patriotic" purpose AND spying at the same time. nt

5. I think lots of us here assume it was a BushCo spying operation
Probably to gather info on the wavering Republicans who are about to jump ship.

6. Was thinking that too. But I wouldn't put it past him to plant things
in unattended offices, then have them 'discovered', so they can charge guys like Kennedy, Kerry, and yep, Hagel's office there too from what I read. People critical of the junta... hmmmm.

Rove would love to be able to discover evidence of corruption in high places (other than his own office). Would he resort to planting it? I do not put him above ANYTHING to save his own butt.

Then there's Cheney... if killing tens of thousands for fun and profit doesn't phase him, there is nothing HE wouldn't do to protect himself and his assets.

At the least, it was a friendly reminder of who's in charge. At worst? God only knows.

8. Oooooooo........ PLANTING info. Yep. Absolutely believable of BushCorp.

Especially the Republicans who may fight back on DOMESTIC spying.

Your remark about 'friendly reminder' hit home too - Last night my feeling was it could be a show of "if we really wanted to you know we could do this". Bush America is too uninformed to think that possible.

Every night I affirm/ask/beseech the power of good to assist in raising everyone's level of consciousness. Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!

7. Do they already have listening devices hidden in Senate offices?
If not, this would be the ideal time to install some.

Is it too much to think that the people evacuated (and those that had already left for the day) will think of this stuff and take a good look around?

On edit: I see you're a long-term DUer but an infrequest poster. Thanks for your input here. :hi:

It was even reported by some last night that staffers had left computers on when evacuated.

14. its primary purpose was as part of TERROR kindling for their scam
But a secondary purpose could have been spying, bugging, or rifling through files of Dems or Pubs.

The president knows no boundaries, respects no limits. Laws are for others, not him. He's a petty tyrant with delusions of grandeur.
