KARL ROVE threatening Senators who speak against Bush at NSA hearings.
I heard this of Democracy Now yesterday.

I just caught a minute of it--apparently Rove is threatening to withold money for Republican senators campaigns in 2006 if they speak against Bush at the hearings on wiretaping.

Is there anything more illustrative of the tremendous corruption of this administration???

Is there anymore proof needed that our country has been hyjacked by the most corrupt government in our history?

1. It could be worse
If this was Germany 1936, those senators would be getting a visit from the SS to remind them of their duties to their country, and they would probably get reminders from the Gestapo as well.

5. Money vs. threats to family or a billie club to your kneecaps
Which one do you prefer?

11. Correction -- money is all you've heard about
and there's a lot of it at stake here. The kneecap thing is never far behind.

12. Until I see evidence of threats of bodily harm, I won't take it
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 05:14 PM by Selatius
Besides, that would be illegal to threaten violence, and Karl isn't going to hand a freebie to Fitzgerald or any future prosecutor. Withholding the money purse is more than enough for your average, pathetic excuse of a politician.

16. You're a very trusting person
It's also illegal to attempt to bribe an elected official.

I agree for the time being. I also believe they're getting more desperate.

19. there is a lot of damage they can do without bodily harm -
tie up bank accounts, audits, block jobs or schools for the kids, relatives, extended family - these guys have no morals - they love killing - they love harming people - they are doing this on a daily basis in iraq

6. There is no difference
Only the tactics have been changed.

If the German politicians didn't play ball they, along with their families disappeared. With Rove only the money to get re-elected will disappear!!!!!

9. This just shows that they are sheep...
Who follow anywhere they are told. They also believe that those seats are theirs for life, and their constituents are dumb, stupid , hateful an uninformed.

17. Too bad we don't keep our Senators on a similar leash.
They enforce discipline with an iron stick, we let our Dinos and Wimps vote Republican on a regular basis, and then get told to shut up and sit down 'cause it could be worse: they could vote Republican all the time.

18. Isnt this how a party should work? Shouldnt we have leadership that
demands the party sticks together? What would have happened if we had actually leadership that demanded a filibuster of Scalito?

The topic they are rallying around is sad but atleast they can put up a unified front.

21. Rove's a BULLY. It seems to me that there should be a better way....
...for politicians to get their campaigns funded then through a political party or big corps. If we could find a better way then perhaps they'd feel more beholden to their constituents who they're actually supposed to be representing and not just a "party" and the ROVIAN Bully types that think they have a right to use bullying, threats blackmailing, etc. He is NOT their boss... the voters in his/her area are.

Actually when I donate to a politician I do so directly to them and not the party. There have been times lately when I wonder if we would be better off if we did away with party affiliation so folks will vote for the person, not just the party.

being threatened by the likes of Rove.
