Anybody donate to the DNC?
I sent the DNC as small donation last year. Around the end of the year, they sent me a 2006 membership card and asked for another donation. So I sent in another donation. I'm a big Dean supporter, and I think we need to take back congress this year if we want to have any chance of actually holding this administration accountable. But here's the thing. I got another letter today saying my membership has lapsed, and they haven't received my 2006 membership gift. I checked my bank records and the check appears to have cleared a month ago, so what gives? Did they lose my money?

Right now I'm not feeling very confident in their organizational skills, and I'm certainly not going to send them another check if they are just going to lose it again. Has anyone else had any problems like this? They don't seem to have an email address I can write to, just a phone number. I really don't want to be on the phone all day trying to straighten this out. Right now I'm trying to decide if its worth my time to try and sort this out, or if it will just be too much of a hassle.

1. They have been calling me for days
I finally picked up the phone and told them I'll donate online if I decide to donate at all.

2. I have sent 2 small donations the past year
I am also a Dean supporter and would not have sent them if was not Chair. I think he has the right ideas on how to reorganize the party. I just sent some money to Russ Feingold, a candidate for Governor here in Iowa, and my local county Democratic Party. In the future, I think I will not donate to the DNC and just send money to certain candidates.

8. I wouldn't think so
But they seem to have lost track of it, even if they did get the money.

4. I got sick of them telephoning me and told them to deal
with me by mail. They complied. But ever since the Alito filibuster I'm contributing directly to candidates I like. I don't want one penny going to any member of the "Gang of 14". Lately, I've been contributing to Dems running against Gangsters in the primaries.

I'm not rich so what I'm doing probably doesn't make much of a difference to anyone. But it makes me feel good.

9. You are probably in their database twice
with a slightly changed spelling of your name or address.

That happened to me, too.

17. Me too
I think a small grassroots donation directly to a candidate means more to them in the big fight. I'm keeping a list of DU supported candidates, probably post-primary.

13. I gave to my local party, and the national party
and let them know today that they have been double mailing me for a year. They misspelled my last name, and so had me down twice.

I also got a call from the DCCC today. Regretfully I had to tell them no. I'm tapped for the moment. But I also just asked for a raise today. If it comes through, I'll see what I can do for them too.

20. That might be the case
Maybe they do have me in their list twice...do they ever send anything that confirms your membership/donation?

Maybe I'll just call them...although sometimes that just makes things worse (like adding you to the list a third time).

22. I get the impression their database is sorta antiquated
at least it seemed to be when I phonebanked during the campaign. But you could try.

14. I did
I donated, but I save most of my political money for the DSCC, individual campaigns and independent organizations.

18. I did and I upped my donation because I believe in the grassroots
effort Dean is starting up. If they don't receive donation from us and if we don't offer our time to help get the message out, we will be doing the bidding of the corporations just like the Republicans.

23. All politics are local
IF you beleive in GRASSROOTS

Take the $$$ you give to the black hole of DCCC (or whatever)
and invest it in paper and ink. Make your own flyers!

SEEK OUT those in your city who are already involved.

Go to your local City Hall/Dem meeting and see who's running things now
IN YOUR TOWN.

The old union guys had a slogan:
Organize - Organize - Organize

imho, if you can afford DCCC $$$, you should MATCH funds locally.

:patriot:When you can do good you should:patriot:

19. Got Vote?
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 11:36 PM by BillORightsMan
I get all kinds of mailers from the DCCC, DSCC, Hillary, the whole lot of alphabet soup.

I put a sticker on, right where the credit card info goes

Unless the Democratic Party addresses the problem of election fraud,
its time and my contribution will be wasted.
Secure my vote, and I will once again contribute generously.
Until election fraud problems are exposed,
and repaired to be open, honest, auditable,
NOT ONE DAMNED DIME!
Save John Conyers, your silence on this issue is deafening!!!
PAPER, PEN & PEOPLE

...and send it back. No response yet. Hmmmmmmmm. :patriot:

I recommend donating directly to the candidates you endorse.
This has a much more direct impact, imho.
Like The Fighting Dems!
