Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund = Bake Sale for the Troops ?
Don't get me wrong, I think it's a wonderful project and I plan to donate, but something bugs me about this "noble cause".

I guess I just rather spread the wealth around all the V.A. hospitals and improve the quality of life for all our veterans and their families.

1. Well, all I can say is if Dennis Kicinich (sp? never could get it right)
endorses it, this must be a good cause.

2. Oh, it's very bipartisan.....
And yes I saw Dennis Kucinich promote it on a Hardball video segment. His endorsement is good enough for me too :hi:

Just worried about over 1000 V.A. hospitals that need help for all vets from all the wars :patriot:

3. But WHY can't it be paid for by the US govt? Why not them?
It's absurd that private money has to be raised.

Cut off a small chunk of what Halliburton has stolen or "lost."

Allegedly.

6. FAQ's....didn't see a F.A.T.S ?
I'm not whining this is not a worthy cause, but I rather see a grant type of program to assist these families directly rather than it put into bricks and mortar. 10 million would go a long way not to have these kids relocated.

9. Got it......OMIGAWD !
FATS Room – Fire Army Training Simulator is used to relearn basic marksmanship skills with prosthetic devices. This offers the opportunity to learn to use a variety of weapons with simulators of the same size, shape, weight and recoil (created with a bottled gas feedback) as the actual weapon. This is used as a precursor to going out and doing skeet shooting and other target activities to prepare to return to active duty or to recreational activities for the marksmanship enthusiasts.

And Kucinich is supporting this effort?

10. Hey Catcha...
..I think this may be the deal I hear Imus pushing...I have conflicted feelings...in 72' I served under a warrant officer who was among the first in the country to fly helicopters with a prosthetic leg and this guy was NOBODY'S cripple...But this SMELLS a little ultra for me,ya know?

12. Hi cat.....
That's my mixed feeling too, I have no problem with them returning to active duty, but shouldn't that be the DOD's responsibility?

Imus, this morning, pointed out (or it was Sen Dowd ? ) the war profiteers, such as GE and Halliburton, have not donated. My concern is with the V.A. hospitals in dire need of upgrading, and Bush keeps cutting that funding. Hence my reference to the 10 million dollar bake sale reference to bricks and mortar for the troops.

My concern also, is that this facility is in Texas, how many young families will be separated or have to relocate ? Most don't realize junior enlisted live at or below the poverty level.

Why are we building a "Disneyland" for our wounded

Thanks for your help :hi:

8. The entire cost is probably equal to what Halliburton pays
one vendor to truck away toenail clippings from their in-house spas in a week. It is sickening that this "cause" (it's not a cause, it's a responsibility) has fallen on the shoulders of the charitable giving of the public while the government ignores it inherent duties and enriches the private coffers of its connected buddies and future employers.
