The Decade of Denial

I was wondering what we restrospectively will call this decade. Denial seems the most obvious choice.

We exposed a CIA agent looking for proof of WMD in Iraq, then we're shocked, shocked we can't find any WMD after we invade.

The emails which would prove the leak was an accident, or not? Those emails are conveniently missing from the White House archive. Nobody seems to mind.

But everything's going great. We have competent leadership. We really are safer with this administration in place. The Middle East needs us there as a peacemaker.

Global warming? A scientific myth.

Trade imbalance? Handwringing from critics without a plan.

It just goes on. The level of denial is so pervasive, when we get to heaven even God will say "Goddam you are good at lying to yourselves."

The Delusional States of America, we are more delusional than united:
Denial
projection
planned ignorance
willful ignorance
phantom issues blinding people to the real issues
emotional, knee jerk reacting to hot buttons- Pavlov was right about conditioning
abused so much brains are changing
no real information available to the masses, pounded by dis-info & psy-ops
refusal to see that life is degrading for all but top 1%
refusal to see that the earth is in serious trouble and needs us to change our ways

noting delusional about spending more money on defense than all the other nations combined, and then we have 9/11. nothing delusional about calling Bush moral, pro-family, and compassionate. nothing delusional about starting a war to keep peace in the Middle East. nothing delusional about temperatures everywhere increasing, while calling global warming a myth. nothing delusional about passing NAFTA, then seeing the best economy in decades heading south. nothing delusional about thinking that Americans don't need Medicare or health insurance, what they really need is tax-free savings accounts.

Nothing delusional about denying this administration didn't do its job on 9/11!
