Governor Dean on "Face the Nation"
Governor Dean will be on "Face the Nation" Sunday morning, the day of his one-year anniversary as DNC chair. Be sure to watch. If you're on the east coast, you'll be snowed in with nothing better to do anyway.

And Joe Rospars has one of the new personal fundraising bats up. You can make it your own. Joe was part of the campaign, and the bat is special to him as well as most of us. The DNC won't put on up officially, but you can make your own.

Dean's DNC: The Bat is in Your Hands
by Joe Rospars
Fri Feb 10, 2006 at 05:57:16 PM EST
Yesterday when Tim posted about the DNC's new personal fundraising tools, we asked for ideas for more mini-campaigns (now, in addition to creating your own personal fundraising homepage, you can create mini-campaigns that will add to your total). A couple of people brought up the old favorite: a bat.

Well, here it is -- you can now create your own bat on Democrats.org and ask all of your contacts to step up to the plate.

Joe Rospars's diary :: ::

"For those of you who weren't around then, the bat is a symbol that will forever be associated with Governor Howard Dean and the hundreds of thousands of Americans who during his presidential run first came to understand the power ordinary people contributing $20 or $50 could have when they act together.

As some of you know I've been working for Howard Dean in one capacity or another for nearly three years. And before I went to work for him full-time on the presidential campaign, I was blogging about him and organizing online with folks like Matt and Aziz (anybody remember the Dean Defense Forces?).

As we were setting up this bat mini-campaign, Tim asked me about the symbol of the bat and its meaning for me. I didn't have a really clear answer for him, and I don't really have one to write here, because it's a deeply personal thing for me.

The bat is a powerful symbol for me and a lot of people -- a symbol of empowerment, a symbol of hope. In the nearly two years since the campaign ended, it has become a symbol of what might have been."

Here is the thread to the tool for making your own fundraising tool.

And here is a sample of what one looks like.

5. Thanks for the post, madfloridian! Dean is doing so well. Did you hear
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 08:45 PM by Wordie
his latest comments? Blitzer even aired them this afternoon, and AP is carrying a story on them! Here's another DU thread about the AP story:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2099846

Here is a bit from the AP story in the other thread:
"When Richard Nixon mislead the nation and obstructed justice he was harming the system of justice and the respect for the presidency," the Democratic National Committee chairman said. "But this administration has done more than that. They have leaked military secrets in a time of war in order to fulfill their political agenda."

Dean said Bush was "not truthful" about the extent of his knowledge about the levee damage in New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. He also said Bush had much closer ties with fallen lobbyist Jack Abramoff than he has acknowledged and ignored intelligence warnings in the months leading up to the 2003 invasion into Iraq.

"This is not about a third rate burglary of the Watergate. This is about undermining the security of America and it is about misleading the American people," Dean said in remarks to the New England Press Association.

Dean is getting the truth out in msm! Go Dean!

6. Speaking before a press group helps to the word out.
I had not seen that in LBN and I posted it in GD..So I guess it is getting enough posts. lol I never think to look in LBN, and I seldom post there, as I usually get locked for having duplicates.

That was a good event at which to compare Bush with Nixon.

Just a pity that it's Chairman Dean instead of President Dean.
