Question for older DUers....Remember The Gray Panthers?
As I was preparing for the VERMONT SAYS NO TO WAR rally today, I became curious about the person responsible for the quote I`m using on my sign.

"SPEAK YOUR MIND, EVEN IF YOUR VOICE SHAKES." The full quote is...."Stand before the people you fear and speak your mind, even if your voice shakes."

Who said that? Maggie Kuhn (1905-1995) founder of The Gray Panthers. I remember TGP from the early 70`s, I think. Any of you remember this group?

1. Yes I knew some Grey Panthers back then
They were inspiring folks who demonstrated that you don't have to lose your passion or your zest as you age.

3. I do.
They were sort of the like the militant, non-corporate version of AARP and VERY much the activist. This baby boomer wouldn't mind joining up with a group like that.

5. They are still around
even though they lost one of their strongest voices when Ms. Kuhn died. They're just being ignored by the media along with the rest of us.

6. They're still very active in my area
It's fairly common that I go to an event, and people are chatting about how they just got back from a gray panthers meeting. They have one of the best online calendars for events in Michigan.
