AP attempt to smear Reid persists: why?
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/2/11/13265/5486

Why does a significant chunk of the old media persist in attempting to pin the Abramoff scandal on the Democrats? Four reasons:

1.They're too lazy to do their own research, and think transcribing faxed RNC talking points is the same as "journalism." (It is--if you're "Jeff Gannon").
2.Their editors, publishers and producers are so afraid of being stuck with the old "liberal bias" label that they're willing to gargle Republican bag in the name of "balance" and "fairness."
3.They're rightwing partisan hacks with no regard for fairness, accuracy or the truth.
4.Worse, they're paid RNC/Bushco operatives who are actively disseminating propaganda.

Paid operatives must be outed. Partisan hacks must be ridiculed. Complacent, lazy, incompetent and intimidated reporters/editors/producers must be browbeaten until they see the error of their ways and repent. Most of all, those of us on the left must be fearless and persistent about telling the TRUTH.

4. Three Republicans, including Shelly Moore Capito of WV, were
in the news this week for taking DIRECT donations from Abramoff and possibly being involved in a 'quid pro quo'.

So, the Reid story is distracting the public from this news. Have you seen THAT on the AP wire?

Reid doesn't even come close to being in the same league as these latest three Republicans so to answer your question: Someone is influencing the MSM very strongly, either by threats or with money.

Paul Craig Roberts, in an article last week, (sorry have lost the link) stated that the media and Democrats were spied on and threatened by the Bush administration. I don't know if that can be substantiate, but I'm entitled to an opinion, and since we already know they have fabricated news stories and paid pundits, plus planted phony reporters to get out their message, I believe they are either threatening or bribing the media. I also believe that some in the media are a part of this administration.
