Ned Lamont for U.S. Senate!!! ** www.nedlamont.com ** (Joe must GO!)
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 03:32 PM by pat_k
We must kick Lieberman out on his Republican ass and Ned Lamont can do it.

Tell Ned to RUN at www.nedlamont.com!

Make a pledge of support. Tell him that he'll get support from across the nation, and that support will be unprecedented if he demands Impeachment.

For more on Lamont see http://www.acorn-online.com/news/publish/article_4422.shtml

1. Not a Connecticut Dem, but strongly opposed to Lieberman just the same.
I will add my support to Lamont's campaign.

Thanks for the link and the good vibe.

5. Speaking as a Connecticut dem I can assure you
that Ned is a good man. He and his wife have been strong supporters of CT Planned Parenthood for years, working on fundaising events in Greenwich where they live a peaceful co-existence with a plethora of Republicans.

4. What are his chances?
I have read that many Conn Dems are upset with Joe, but I don't know how he is polling right now compared to Lamont.

I'd agree that if feasible, Joe must go. Let's get a Dem in there who is a Dem.

7. Money Talks -- Get the BUZZ going by pledging and his chances. . .
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 04:01 PM by pat_k
. . .are fantastic!!

Joe Lieberman has proven he's a Republican. Real Democratic candidates can win statewide electins in CT -- particularly since Gov. Rowland resigned when threatened with Impeachment for his abuse of power.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A57561-2004Jun21.html

. . . Rowland allowed major state contractors and gubernatorial aides to foot the bill for a new $14,000 kitchen, a cathedral ceiling and a $3,600 hot tub at his lakeside summer cottage in Litchfield County. These same friends and associates gave him thousands of dollars' worth of champagne, Cuban cigars and a Mustang convertible.). . .

11. The knee jerk rationalization rears its head. . .
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 05:11 PM by pat_k
"It can't happen, so there is no reason to try," or "It's futile, why bother?" or some other variation.

The consequences of habitually falling victim to this rationalization are catastrophic.

The notion that "it's futile, we can’t do anything" is perhaps the biggest barrier to action "our side" faces. It is very deeply ingrained. Over and over we allow appeals to "practicality" and "realism" immobilizes us. One of the primary reasons Democrats are viewed as wimps is their failure to fight the good fights, come what may.

We like to think of ourselves as reasonable people, but it is not reasonable to guarantee failure with the notion "can't be done, so don't try." That only makes sense if you believe in your own omniscience.

It is time to be truly reasonable and fight the good fights – and booting Lieberman out on his Republican ass is a CRITICAL fight. He is doing FAR more damage to the Democratic Party than any Republican could. He is the source of endless propaganda that "Democrats are split" or "Democrats get behind Bush". Even if we think Lamont doesn't have a chance, we need to do whatever we can to make sure he wins or recruit a stronger candidate.

In our part of the spectrum, we get angry at people for being disengaged; even as we promote their immobility with pronouncements of futility and defeatism.

It is time to STOP IT !!

Conventional wisdom assured us (even mockingly) that we would never get a Senator to stand up and object to the Ohio electors on January 6th. No mainstream good government entity even considered fighting to make it happen. They were too busy whipping themselves for losing, when Kerry had in fact won. Citizen lobbyists took up the fight. Mainstream folks didn't jump on board until it was clear that the effort itself was energizing people in a way they might well capitalize on.

Had they acted sooner, who knows? We might have inaugurated President Kerry on January 20th, 2005. And acting "sooner" could have been as early as December 12, 2000. Who knows? We might have inaugurated President Gore on January 20th, 2001.

There are so many other examples.

Some call it confidence; some call it faith. The label doesn't matter as long as we understand how powerful it is to act from the knowledge that anything is possible.

12. I suspect you're right about the eventual outcome
However... it's also very important that Lieberman be sent a message -- his constituents are not happy. He's NOT listening. He's NOT representing the people of this state.

A serious challenge might just get his attention. Nothing else seems to do that.

17. We need to counterbalance the big-money GOP lobyists supporting
Lieberman:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2452835
thread title (2-11-06 GD-P): Republican Lobbyists Host Fundraiser for Joe Lieberman
Comment/excerpt: “Fuller was President Ronald Reagan's Cabinet secretary and later Vice President George H.W. Bush's chief of staff. Goldfield, a Reagan White House aide and later assistant secretary of Commerce, was a fund-raiser in the two Bush-Quayle campaigns. While Lieberman is a major voice for lobbyist reform, three of his dinner's five hosts were registered lobbyists. Fuller represents the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Goldfield lobbies for Airbus and for energy companies (ConcocoPhillips, Dynegy International and Gulfsands Petroleum). Co-host C. Michael Gilliland, a partner in the Hogan & Hartson law firm, represents a variety of clients.”

his website says he will "fight" for health care and you support him. so what exactly is the
health care plan he proposes or endorses?

you do believe in his content, right?
