FBI says PA man "plotted with al-Qaida blow up the Alaska pipeline...
...another pipeline in Pennsylvania and a refinery in New Jersey, according to a published report."

Michael Curtis Reynolds, 47, has not officially been charged with terrorism _ but a prosecutor at a hearing said that Reynolds tried to "provide material aid to al-Qaida" and that the case "involves a federal offense of terrorism," The Philadelphia Inquirer reported in Sunday editions. Reynolds has been held without bail in the Lackawanna County jail since Dec. 5 on an unrelated weapons charge.

"He was doing it as a plan to disrupt governmental function, to change the government's actions in foreign countries, and to impact on the national debate about the war," Assistant U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus Jr. said at the December hearing in Wilkes-Barre.

The Inquirer attained a copy of a federal transcript alleging that Reynolds plotted to detonate propane-filled trucks along sections of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and the Transcontinental Pipeline, a natural-gas pipeline that runs from the Gulf Coast, through Pennsylvania, to New Jersey and New York City. The FBI also alleges that Reynolds targeted Standard Oil Co. in Perth Amboy, N.J., as well as the Williams Refinery in Opal, Wyo. He was arrested not far from there.

1. The guy has been held since December, and we're just hearing about it?
The timing here is rather interesting, don't you think?

6. If the L.A. spook story had been accepted without question...
...I'll bet we wouldn't have heard about this at all, or at least until Uncle Karl decided we needed a fresh injection of fear.

Let's remember, boys & girls...those are Karl Rove's two talking points as we ramp up to the 2006 elections: fear and the economy.

How he's going to squeeze points out of the economy (other than the jubilant "haves" of Bush's "base"), I don't know.

3. Sure has been a lot of terrorism-right-here-at-home stories the same
week that wiretapping, the Patriot Act, etc. have met with Congressional resistance.

Essentially I disbelieve every single syllable that comes out of this administration's lying mouths.

4. So how did he plot with al-Qaeda?
Sounds like the only thing close to al-Qaeda is the undercover FBI posing as a member...otherwise he seems ilke the sort of garden variety right wing loony-tune who can be found clogging the aisles of gun shows and supporting the GOP.

9. Got that right!
The second largest loss of life due to terrorism in the U.S. of .A ,came right out of our lilly white Conservative ranks. Sounds like a gun nut, bull sh*tted into a plot by the FBI.

11. Even with all the wiretapping..
We haven't caught the guy who sent the Anthrax spores.

We haven't caught the people burning churches in Maryland.

We haven't caught the people burning churches in Georgia.

We didn't stop Jacob Robida, despite his very public MySpace profile.

We didn't stop the people from helping 13 Al Quaeda members from escaping from prison in Yemen last week.

We didn't stop drug smugglers from building a tunnel into Mexico big enough to drive a car through.

7. Not caught via FBI undercover - just a lady with a computer w/ a hobby
Rossmiller has caught over 100 - Ryan being the most famous before this one.

I think she has a neat hobby!

They show her face in an old photograph and then say they can't show her face in a current photo for her own safety - I swear our FBI is trying to prove to the terrorists that they are as smart as the terrorists - or not! :-)

Meanwhile she has been doing this for several years - why the hell can't the FBI set up its own act?

I mean after she caught the first one, then the first ten, you'd think they would realize the process works - and heck, after she got all the PR for Ryan - The PR that the FBI loves - you'd think they would try to compete and get in front of what she is doing rather than waiting for her phone call.

Amazing...

:toast:

But these folks didn't pass the al-Qaida IQ test - they are just some "Morans" out to back a buck and a large noise.

Our media doesn't always get its facts straight - and this media's spin - Newsday - works better for the Bush White House.

sigh

:-) :toast:

8. How about that drunk hunter in AK who shot the pipeline a few years back?
Has he also been charged with terrorism, conspiracy and sedition? Has he been whisked away to Gitmo? I'll bet he had links to al Qaeda, too!!!

:eyes:

12. No, he was just a typical drunk guy with a gun
out shooting inanimate objects. There weren't any road signs around for him to practice on.

16. imagine an excited group of neocons:
Condoleeza Rice: "Colonel Mustard, in the Library, with the candlestick"
Laura Bush: "close"
Dick Cheney: "Professor Plum, with the lead pipe, in the conservatory"
Laura Bush: "way off"
Dick Cheney: "Go fuck yourself" (canned laughter)
Lynn Cheney: "Miss Scarlett in latex, with her lover: Mrs. Peacock, in the bedroom, with a pipe wrench."
Bush: "sniiiiiifff...okay, okay, he does it for 40,000 dollars, outside of Idaho, with a grenade in his pocket, his sister says he's a mercenary, and he was convicted of arson in 1978."
Dick Cheney: "quick, write that down!"
