Don't Republicans claim their victory was because of "Angry White Men" |
|
Kind of contradicts their head of RNC when he said people don't vote for the angry ones...

AWM was the rage (no pun intended) at one point in the early 90s.
Remember how every time you looked up there was the anecdote on how, it seemed, every job was stolen by some incompetent minority at the expense of the white male applicant who was a 1000% qualified? These tales were even embellished by the apologetic phone call from the HR recruiter saying "you're perfect, we'd love to hire you but AFFIRMATIVE ACTION..."
There was even that silly movie with John Travolta and Harry Belafonte where Blacks had taken over and the Whites were the oppressed.

7. In a Way, They are Correct |

The secret of winning an election is to stir up and channel anger among your supporters without becoming an "angry one" yourself. As a candidate for president, it demeans you and That's why the VP candidate is usually the hatchet man.
Bill Clinton was a master at attacking and going on the offensive without appearing angry. If you don't think about his words, you may not even notice he's eviscerating the opposition. Reagan was very successful at being folksy while channeling anger. Bush 43 doesn't have an angry persona either -- if he did, he might not be president today. And if Howard Dean had learned this lesson better, he might be president today. Dean's town hall speeches were perfect, but the public formed an impression of him from raw meat speeches to the base.
Democratic politicians seem to feel that there are only choices -- be nice and accommodating or be an attack dog. That attitude is one of the chief obstacles to victory in November.

8. Hypocracy. It's alright for the Republican base to be "angry"... |
|
but when Democrats get angry, it's "bad".
This is the typical GOP hypocracy.

...but you see, at least they had the good sense not to apologize for it.
Would that our Democratic "leaders" would get a clue on this score.
