4. Good thing he had his GOP suppositories with him
He certainly stuck a number of them up his butt before he came on camera.

15. Considering everything, remarkably well
Besides the usual day-to-day crapola that comprises my life and gives me reason for living there has been some excitement in our lives. Rex was in a car accident and totaled his car. He fell asleep at the wheel. He's recovered and traveled to Arizona. He'll be back Wednesday.

I've been doing a lot of kid watching lately. Another friend of ours has been out of town. We've been helping her ex out by watching their kid when the ex has to be at work. The ex does contract work and has weird hours. Our friend is back in town as of Friday and my stint as part-time mom is over - for now.

It's funny, we were just talking about we have already been "repaid" more than once for helping out our friend these past few weeks. Because yet another friend dropped by today and repaid some money I had forgotten I lent her. My brother called to update us about his situation at work - looks like he's getting a promotion and a raise. My sister also called today and said she got word from one of her doctors that it looks like she will walk again without aid (she's been in leg braces for a few years). On top of all that I've gotten two anonymous valentines tonight.

Hope that you will be able to make it out to Rex's this Saturday. evlbstrd said he was coming out.

18. OMG! Give Rex healing wishes from us!!
Is he sure he still wants to have his party? I would definitely understand if he cancels.

Of course we want to come. Looking forward to it.

What should I bring?

19. He's fine
otherwise he wouldn't have to Arizona. The last time I talked to him he told me to get as many people out to the Hollow as I could. He wants you all there.

How about a dessert? evlbstrd said he's bringing venison.

22. I think he's planning on cooking first
Edited on Mon Feb-13-06 10:29 AM by Mabus
Yeah, he fell asleep shortly after January's meetup - about two hours later to be exact. He says it has been a problem he's been experiencing lately (falling asleep while driving) and he's tried to ignore it! Thankfully he went off the road near his house and into a small ditch. He said it was a good wake-up (excuse the pun) for him and he'll be taking more afternoon naps. More importantly, the next time we ask him to stay over in one of the spare bedrooms he will take us up on it.

Rex's trip to Arizona was planned before the accident. He goes to Arizona at least once a year and holes up in a small cabin for a couple of weeks to clear his head. You know, it is an old Lawrence hippie thing. At least it is the practice of at least one old hippie in Lawrence.

on edit: the subject line is referring to evlbstrd and his cooking of the venison before he comes to Lawrence.

26. Well, it *is* evlbstrd
Then again, he could haul some uncooked meat in a cooler and then cook it on one of the grills when he gets to Rex's. Maybe you better talk to him.

Actually Lawrence is the home of hippies of all ages, I just know the older ones.

Maybe I should bring a hunting gun.

24. I 'm certain Kansas is a great state with nice normal people
just commenting about the similarity of their accents. I don't know many Kansians, I just wondered if it was a regional thing.

I'm from PA, the SE part, so I don't run into a whole lot of upstater's, but it seems to me Arlen Specter's country twang is weird. Maybe he grew up in another state? Never was interested enough to research it.

Evidently there's a very large terrorism threat in Kansas.

This continuing project, “Can it happen in Kansas? Response to terror,” will continue to train health and public safety professionals in Kansas. Through monthly promotions, rural health project partners, and partnering with legislators, the grant will reach the whole state. ...

“Kansas is the breadbasket of America,” Senator Roberts said. “This funding is critical to prepare our first responders to a possible bioterrorism attack and to continue to provide food for a troubled and hungry world.”

The evaluation will be detailed to include the first large scale disaster simulation drill, which was completed earlier this year. KU will build on this evaluation and use the results in training.

Kansas commits 90 percent of its land to agriculture and contains 135,000 road miles, and 4,000 rail transport miles, so the threat of bioterrorism to Kansas remains a daily reality with national implications.

Ooooohhhhh As we all know, terrorists love to target farms and empty roads.

Kansas is just the same, we've just got to live with the title of that book when people can't think of anything substantive to say about our state.
