Why did the White House wait nearly 24 hours to report Cheney shooting?
WTMJ in Milwaukee (NBC affiliate) is reporting that the Cheney shooting was found out about only after a texas newspaper was given the story and thus it became public today.

When asked by the AP why the VP office waited nearly 24 hours to report this incident here is their answer: "We wanted to give the property owners a chance to handle the announcement."

I'm sorry I dont have a link, this came directly from television news.

WTF??? Have you ever hears an answer like that in your life?

Something as serious as this and the VP's office says we wanted to wait til the property owners said something 1st? Are you fucking kidding me?

I smell a cover up in the making...

1. I heard....
That the story only broke after the owner of the ranch informed the media. If it wasn't for her (I think it was a her), then we might never of heard about it.

4. Their reaction to EVERY situation is to lie, cover-up, and spin
they lie about literally EVERYTHING, from Jenna teaching in Harlem to Smirk being an avid reader to not being warned about 9/11 months in advance. It's part of creating their own reality.

6. To get Cheney out of the area.
They didn't want to announce he was there at all until he wasn't anymore.

That's my thinking. That's even a plausibly legitimate reason.

He hunts there every year. It was no secret he was hunting in Texas. Its an annual event.

10. Me too. Most hunters are drinkers, especially when they go hunting.
Ask me how I know.

13. O K, I'll ask. The reason I think this is because I've done a lot of
hunting while drinking while hunting birds in Texas.

We learned to fire a shotgun with one hand so we could hold on to our beer.

If you take time to set your drink down your shot will be gone.

I can hit Teal (ducks with a flight speed of over 60 mph) one-handed.

not to mention Cheney needed that much time to get the alcohol out of his system.

14. I wonder if there was even a shooting. Is there something else?
With these animals even their scandals seem to be covers for greater scandals. Was there a shooting? Was it to cover for something else? Was there some story involving Cheney that got smothered under this?

I have no belief that anything we hear from these criminals is even slightly reflective of reality.

They had to get Cheney to a safe location and let him dry out.

And, they didn't want to derail their Sunday talk spiel.

25. Good one. This is standard operating procedure.
Politician does something stupid/illegal with serious consequences (injury/death) for someone else.

Politician and his handlers fly into a panic trying to figure out how to get out of it--and possibly (if the accident involved alcohol or drugs) how to get said politician in a state to face law enforcement (sober the bastard up)

Caring for or rescuing the victim is way down on the priority level. In this case they probably tried to take care of him locally but faced with serious injuries--they don't put you in intensive care for nothing--and the fact that the victim was a prominent and wealthy individual, they had to go public.

Just think, if Cheney'd blasted some ranch hand they might have been able to cover it up.

No, they were NOT going to report this incident at all. Thank goodness for liberal black sheep in one's family. :-) :hi:

23. 2 things: sober up, and make sure the guy would live. he's in intensive
care... why? he had about as many pellets removed from his face as there are in a typical shell. at 30 yards, the pattern is the size of a basketball... so basically, my guess is we will never see a picture of this guy because part of his face is likely blown off and he'll need extensive reconstructive surgery.

just my guess, based on the facts i've been reading.

30. I tuned in to Headline News..
... for literally 3 minutes (that's all I can stand).

They carefully pointed out that the victim did not properly signal his presense, implying that the accident was HIS fault.

Shooting someone while hunting, especially with a shotgun which is short ranged, is kinda like running into the rear end of someone's car. It is ALWAYS your fault, period, end of story.

First rule of hunting, don't fire where you cannot see.

I used to hunt and that is the first and most important rule I learned.

Also in ANY bird hunt, one never shoots at an angle low enough to hit dogs or other hunters.
