Does FISA only apply during peacetime? |
|
Republicans say that during wartime the President has unlimited powers granted by the Constitution and thus the law does not apply. Wouldn't Congress have known about those "unlimited powers" back in 1978 when they passed FISA and made some mention of it only being a peacetime law?
Or are Republicans just fabricating more lies?

The FISA law specifically addresses wartime powers. The prez has 15 days after the declaration of war to file for warrants and the 72 hour post spying deadline for applying applies to wartime.

War is not declared. The war on terror is linguistically as meaningful as the war on poverty, etc. The occupation of Iraq is a war against what nation? On the other hand because Congress never officially declared war anyway, why bother with details concerning war actions?
The logic of the absurd reigns supreme and it all started with the ludicrous decision of SCOTUS in 2000.
It means this president has declared himself dictator because he is killing people, therefore we are at war, therefore he has the right to kill people. Got it.
