New ABC TV series "A House Divided" - - about the second Civil war
A HOUSE DIVIDED” (ABC): A Democrat is elected president and a red state secedes from the union, precipitating The American Civil War II. (From Aint-it-Cool)

Michael Rymer ("Battlestar Galactica") has come aboard to direct the drama pilot, about the escalating conflict between a Midwest farming community and the U.S. government that sows the seeds of what will be the next civil war in present-day America. Andrew David Chapman created the Touchstone Television-based project with Mark Gordon serving as an executive producer.

The network's A House Divided deals with red and blue states sparking a 21st-century U.S. civil war.

Good ole' Hoss saved the day after Adam and Little Joe tried to leave the Ponderosa cause' they couldn't see eye to eye on the upcoming war...

4. Hmmmm
While the writers for BattleStar Galactica are really great...I have a feeling that this plot sounds like a revamped and modern day "The Blue & The Grey" but with a "The day after" feel to it.

6. It's bullshit, and I'm gonna vent a little bit on why it's crap.

At face value, it already uses a false dichotomy of pro- vs. anti-federal government trappings. The Republicans control the damn government, and if anything, they love federal authority more than states' rights. Look at the damn Patriot Act. Look at NAFTA. Look at CAFTA. Look at the government's participation in the WTO, the World Bank, the damn wars ripping this planet apart, the sheer poverty and misery inflicted upon billions of innocent people in the name of shareholder greed and power.

The point of the matter is if the fucking red states want to secede from the damn Union, I say LET THEM DO IT. The blue states pay most of the taxes anyway, and most of those taxes go to hold up red states, so if those hypocrites and idiots really want to practice what they preach about "individual responsibility" vs. "rewarding laziness," then I say they should be given a hard lesson on what it takes to pay for every goddamn thing by yourself out of your own pocket vs. collectivization and the collective bargaining power invoked from such a relationship.

In honesty, the better path would be to continue to offer a helping hand even if they slap it away because that is the righteous way, but another part of me says, "Fuck them all for their ungratefulness."

9. Conservatives are still playing the "underdog" card.
Absolutely stupid. They fucking control every branch of government and are getting their wishes obeyed on every level! They can no longer claim that the "liberal" establishment is keeping them down, and yet they do.

Then the producers of this idiotic show had to come up with some plot device to make the president a DEMOCRAT. Oh, it's those evil Democrats who are oppressing those freedom-lovin' conservative rugged individuals again.... :eyes:

8. I do not see a "Bang-Bang" "Andersonville-Gettysburg" Civil War
I see a Roberts-Scalia-Thomas-Kennedy-Alito chipping away of Federal power (Commerce Clause and really strained "Original Intent" interpretations of the Bill of Rights" followed by a trashing of "Privacy Rights" and a severe limiting of the "Establishment Clause, and certainly Roe v Wade being history).

I think the weakening of the Commerce Clause will lead, initially, to "Fifty Feuding States" -- followed by a "Red State Caucus" and a "Blue State Caucus"

I think in a perverse sort of way the mix of Katrina and Iraq will lead to the National Guard replacing the Army, with the Governors being able to refuse to turn "their" National Guard over the Feds.

10. Anybody read the original "House Divided" by Margret Steen?
i read it in junior high school. It was long but very interesting. About Abe Lincon's roots. Seem like his grandmother was born out of wedlock. Tell about his confederate kin folk. Great read.
