Cheney cleared in hunting accident

White House faces questions about disclosing incident

Tuesday, February 14, 2006; Posted: 1:19 p.m. EST (18:19 GMT)

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (CNN) -- Authorities have cleared Vice President Dick Cheney of wrongdoing in the Texas shooting of a hunting companion, while reporters aimed tough questions at White House officials about their delay in disclosing the accident. During Tuesday's White House news conference, spokesman Scott McClellan was asked if waiting 14 hours after the shooting before Cheney spoke with police was appropriate, and whether an average citizen would have been afforded the same amount of time. "That was what was arranged with the local law enforcement authorities," McClellan said. "You ought to ask them that question." McClellan referred other questions about Cheney's shooting of campaign contributor Harry Whittington to the vice president's office and local police. (Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com

I would have told them, "You weren't told because the vice president hates your freaking guts. He wouldn't tell you if your hair was on fire."

So he was cleared but the story is still all these alleged "irregularities." It's sickening when the press creates a story. The "delay" story on this is similar to the extra 5 minutes or whatever it was the president spent in that classroom on 9/11. A craven wild effort to make a story out of zip.

8. 20 minutes if you add the time he spent doing photo ops afterwards.
Bush stuck around afterward and chummed it up for photos.

4. A pop quiz for every patriotic Freeper:
Upon hearing the first reports of airliners crashing into the World Trade Center, how long did it take you to seek out more information (via radio, television, etc):

A) 0 minutes
B) 7 minutes
C) screw you hippie! (sure to be a popular choice)

headlights.

Hey, at least Deadeye Dick didn't spend the next day jetting around all over the place hiding. He just went and slept off the whiskey.
