5. I don't think so
The VP really needs to be a legislator to push the administration's agenda through Congress. I've always thought this - nothing to do with Hackett.

7. The new speaker+majority leaders/whips will be able to take care of that.

You telling me you doubt Clark's "coattails?"

:-)

Plus, it would send a signal that there is truly a new kind leadership in the Democratic Party...actually, more than a signal. There is no doubt the Democratic Party needs an "extreme makeover," so we better starting thinking outside the box.

9. Not about coattails
This is how I see the Prez and the VP best working as a team. I like Clark/Feingold myself.

11. Are you questioning Clark's party loyalty here?
If so, that's just....sad. I actually don't know enough about Hackett to comment on him but General Clark has shown more loyalty to the Democratic Party than I think I'll ever have. God bless him, I don't know why, considering the shabby way he's so often treated by them.

As for his stance on the current Iraq situation, I'd suggest going here - http://www.cfr.org/publication/9845/

I'd also suggest reading all the way through the question and answer session. He articulates and elaborates on his views on many things. He's never been shy about expressing his opinions on Iraq throughout this whole mess...way back to at least July of 2002, when he was arguing forcefully with Gene Lyons against the invasion, but I guess it's understandable that some haven't heard them as he's so often been ignored. Again, sad.

8. Sorry but,
If he can't win a special election. And can't handle the pressure of a senate race. I doubt he will do well on the national level.
