The DNC had nothing whatever to do with this fiasco. You might get mad at the DCCC, or at Sherrod Brown, or even Harry Reid perhaps. The DNC though? Makes no sense to me.

Dear Mr. Hackett:

Last year I was impressed w/ you and your campaign for Congress & made a donation to you. I think your an example of the kind of people this country (Democrat & Republican alike) want in elected office and that we are tired of "politics as usual". I had been planning on making a donation for your run for Senate & believe (and still believe) that you are the only one that can unseat Mike Dewine in Ohio. Our country is in danger right now and the Democrats desperately need to win control of the Senate to provide some form of checks and balances on an Executive Branch out of control. I am so sickened by the news that you have withdrawn and the idea that our so called "party" could have had anything to do with it. I make regular contributions to the DCCC....emphasis on that being now in the past. I have written them and told them my disgust and am hereby committing myself to ONLY giving money directly to the candidates of my choosing, not THEIRS! Let the PEOPLE decide who we want in office, not them! I may not be able to vote for you in Ohio, but I can donate to you and hereby pledge to donate $100 to your campaign (more if I can) if you reconsider. Don't worry about "Going back on your word" to the DCCC and Dem leadership ...frankly, they went back on their word to you. Your allegiance will always be with the Constitution and the people of this country and who elect you. Not the politico's who frankly are the reason so many don't want to enter politics. They are bullys... do not let them bully you. You have our support. You can raise the money. There are so many, like me, who had been planning on donating...we didn't realize it was as serious and that you needed it now. Please reconsider. And if you do, you have my info and I'll be happy to donate if you throw your hat back in to the fight!
