Democrat Wins Special Election For Ky. Senate Seat

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Kentucky Senate vacancy left over from the 2004 election was finally filled Tuesday when voters chose Democrat Perry Clark to finish the rest of the term.

The south Louisville district went without a senator last year and half of the current legislative session because of a long-running dispute settled by the state Supreme Court. Its ruling led to a clean slate featuring two new candidates chosen by their local party leaders.

In unofficial returns, Clark had 6,757 votes to 5,802 for Republican Debbie Peden.

Clark benefited from organized labor's backing in a district with strong pro-union sentiment. In a hard-charging campaign filled with attacks on the airwaves and in mailings, it was the ground campaign that was crucial, Clark said.

6. Howard Dean does it again
We won some special election in a Republican district in Virginia last month too, following the sweep of the NJ and VA governors' races.

Don't listen to the media whores and the people at Bob Shrum's consulting firm. Howard Dean is doing just fine.
