Add Delaware to US States getting Venezuela fuel for low-income families
Low-cost heating oil hits Del.Million gallons of fuel from Venezuela will help state's needy

WILMINGTON -- Delaware received its first shipment Tuesday of low-cost heating oil from Venezuela under an agreement worked out by the country's ambassador and a Hockessin lawyer.

The more than 1 million gallons of oil from Citgo Petroleum Corp., the U.S. refining subsidiary of Venezuela's national oil company, is being offered to Delaware at a 40 percent discount to benefit low-income families. The 1 million gallons will be distributed by Catholic Charities to 20,000 residents across the state.

Another 150,000 gallons is being donated directly to homeless shelters such as Martha House II in Wilmington, where dignitaries and state and local officials gathered to discuss the deal and watch workers pump the first delivery.

"This has nothing to do with partisanship and party labels," said Richard Korn, a lawyer and political watchdog. "People need our help."

2. Delaware is the seventh state to receive cut-rate fuel from Venezuela
Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 02:17 PM by cyberpj
Delaware is the seventh state to receive cut-rate fuel from Venezuela, the world's fifth-largest oil exporter. Organizations in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Maine also have signed agreements to receive discounted oil.

I'm just guessing - all BLUE STATES? I know Delaware is.
