And WE get distracted again |
Today, the world wants to talk about the release of new Abu Ghirab prison photos. This SHOULD be the topic of the day, as it shows how out of touch we are with the global community and why we cannot hold ourselves as directors of other nations' affairs when we can not control our own. But instead, we obsess over whether we should have been told about a hunting accident on Saturday afternoon vs. Sunday afternoon. Yes, it's embarrassing to the Repugs, but in the big picture, it does nothing to them. What can show the corruptness of them (or prove further) is buried in the back of the newscast. A total travesty.

3. Maybe that is why Duck Cheney shot a 78 year old man in the face |
Yes they are that evil and that desperate to divert us from any and all big events in the news.
And guess what, it is working!

5. I just see the Cheney story dominating the news stories |
and I just don't think that this story has any real traction. I think the prisoner abuse photos would. I guess I'm just frustrated because by the time the obsession with the hunting story is faded, people will refer to the new photos as "old news". I'm not saying it's wrong to jump on the hunting screw-up, but at what price are we giving up in getting the public's attention on more important fare. Just my opinion. Thanks for yours.

6. Are the pictures going away any time soon? |
They're being published in Australia. Who's picking them up here?

9. Gotta say that I agree |
It seems the shooting story has pushed the "Libby implicates Cheney" story into the bit bucket. Heck, even AAR is spending more time talking about the shooting story than the Libby story.

8. And the Patriot Act, and the Domestic Spying, and Impeachment |
the patriot act is being filibustered by Feingold today, Senator Byrd has called on a special investigation into the domestic spying, said the president broke the law and violated the peoples trust.
these people have to be removed, this administration must be made to cease and desist their domestic spying programs, and they need to be removed from office. only then can we get to the Abu Ghirab prison issues.

10. I remember being told in several threads on this forum |
that we shouldn't be talking about the Schiavo power grab while there were antiwar demonstrations about to take place. The reaction to the Republican hijinks on Schiavo marked a turning point in current popular political perceptions. This episode may also be a landmark because it too will crystallize public opinion about the recklessness, evasiveness, and outright dishonor of these characters. The cartoon of Cheney blowing a hole in the Constitution with his shotgun sticks in my mind as a perfect illustration of how these guys are willing to risk destroying what is most dear to us in pursuit of their silly macho ideas about how to deal effectively with the problems of our time.
