Later in the broadcast -- after apparently being inundated with e-mails correcting his false assertion on Brown's ethnicity -- Limbaugh again corrected himself but declared: "I'm not gonna apologize, 'cause I don't think it's an insult to be black. But I did err. ... He is not black. He's one of these white European descendents in Ohio." Limbaugh opined that Hackett's withdrawal "really boils down to a matter of money" but was also because "they don't like military guys in the ... Democratic Party."

If you took time out from your sneering-and-preening routine to do so, you might even come to agree that Ohio Democrats should be allowed to MAKE THEIR OWN DECISION IN A PRIMARY as to who their nominee should be, rather than having Chuck Schumer decide for them, by intervening with big-money contributors to undermine candidates he doesn't favor and thus prevent contested primaries from taking place.

But, perhaps I make naive and false assumptions about the sincerity of certain contributors to this forum.

In fact, some weeks ago I corrected a supposed Sherrod Brown supporter on this forum, who insisted that Sherrod was being dissed because he was an African-American. It's a safe bet that person wasn't from Ohio either.

I've been actively involved in Dem politics for the last 15 years at the grassroots level. Like many others, I know when a candidate has bitten off more than he can chew, which is what Paul Hackett did.

He can run again, he should run for the OH-2 seat. He still has a future, but you can't come from nowhere and overnight run for and win a senate seat from Ohio, no matter how much help you have.

Hackett was smart enough to realize that without putting the party through a lot of crap. His feelings were hurt, his pride was wounded and he said some things he probably regrets. He's not the first candidate who had to pull out of a losing race to feel that way. Tomorrow is another day and Hackett will keep going and run again.

And I've known Sherrod Brown for about 13 years now, he's been my Congressman for a long time.
