7. Don't know, it was a recorded poll and the response was recorded |
|
by pushing 1 for yes, and 2 for no. I don't think the pollster ID'd herself. Don't know how our phone number was picked, except that we live in S. Central PA Bible Belt.
The last question really knocked my sox off!

I mentioned this here before, but my neighbor has a big J'08 sign in his window. I didn't even know what it meant until I asked.

17. There are certain politicians who won't be able to become Prez in '08 |
|
And they're anybody who's the least bit controversial.
After eight years of hell with Bush, voters -- left, liberal, moderate, conservative, right-wing -- will be in no mood to reelect another president who will seemingly dominate their lives day-in and day-out. When Nixon left office, Gerald Ford was the perfect tonic for a country that simply couldn't deal with presidential headlines anymore. By the time Jimmy Carter's laidback presidency was over, the country was once again restless for a headline-grabbing president. These things go in cycles, depending on who's leaving office.
For the Republicans, that eliminates controversials like Jeb Bush, Bill Frist, and Rick Santorum.
For the Democrats, it also eliminates Howard Dean, Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry (through absolutely no fault of his own, thanks to the smears of the SmearVets).

18. You're assuming things are as they traditionally |
|
have been. Now we have rigged elections (see Florida, Ohio and God knows where else). The Supreme Court annointed Dubya the first time and that was BEFORE he stacked the court with party/personal loyalists like Roberts & Alito (plus that fawning, little lap-dog Attorney General Gonzales) --- ALL just waiting to put their official seal of approval on anything the neocon puppeteers want. We now live in Karl Rove's and Grover Norquist's America where the Constitution means nothing and even if you win (Gore, Kerry) you still don't take office. The cheaters & liars do. Our Congresspeople, except for a miniscule handful, are worse than useless and our Media are paid whores in cahoots with the corporate moneymen and the official neocon line. And they get away with it all because most Americans only really worry about making sure they get to see 'American Idol' and that gas for the SUV isn't too expensive. Bush comes out with shit like "51% is a mandate" and no one bats an eyelash. For years we've read how half the electorate can't even be bothered to drag their sorry asses to the voting booth ---and now Diebold and others have made the whole exercise pointless.
