What time does it get dark in Texas?
Edited on Thu Feb-16-06 09:31 PM by RapidCreek
I live in South Dakota. We are in the same time zone as the Vice President was when he shot his acquaitance. It gets dark here at about 5:15 PM. I would assume the same is true of Texas which makes the Vice Presidents account of what happened, as far as his shooting is concerned, more than just a little suspect.

I hunted extensively and I trapped as well and I can say categorically I would fall under the heading of a "seasoned hunter". I don't know about the rest of you seasoned hunters out there but it would be a cold day in hell when I'd be swinging a firearm around with the intent of shooting something in the company of others even at dusk, let alone complete darkness.

It seems to me that in addition to his hosts story...being the only eyewitness to nothing, this would be yet another inconsistency in a tale that somehow escaped any type of serious investigation.

I can say that my record is clean...well I got a dwi, I wasn't afforded the luxury of successfully convincing the police to talk to me about it on the afternoon of the following day. At any rate, my record is pretty much clean...with that exception and only that exception. The cops would have talked to me the minute it was reported that I had a hunting accident and they would have tested me for alcohol consumption as well.

Why are none of the news shows mentioning these stunningly obvious facts?

3. Sundown on Saturday was 6:09. Texas law forbids shooting...
within 30 minutes of sunset/sunrise.

8. I am getting older and my memory hasn't worked right since...
I moved to California.

Thanks for the correction.

I remember checking my watch in the morning and waiting for the time so I could blast the snot out of that 12-pointer 60 yards away that invariably morphed into a tangle of underbrush just as the time arrived.
