Why not just take a vacation until November and hopefully throw the criminals out. Obviously no one is going to stop them from doing whatever the hell they want between now and then. Senator Pat Roberts announced that the NSA investigation was officially over today. So the Bush White House can continue to spy on you, the press, it's political enemies, or whomever the hell they please for the time being. The Vice-President can shoot someone and they blow it off as just a trivial "peppering". The pepper victim is still in the hospital. They will continue to lie, spy, torture, hide secrets, ignore the laws. They are telling the world to "go fuck themselves".

3. Do you want the short answer or the long one? |
|
Short answer: that would be giving up. "The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality." (Dante)
The long answer is that we HAVE to try. Over 2000 American bodies coming home on cargo planes say that we have to. Thousands of elderly, practically helpless citizens being routinely robbed of their limited but crucial dollars say that we have to. The scores of citizens being jailed and abused without cause say that we have to.
It doesn't suffice anymore to wait out the storm. We have to do everything we can to try and hinder this insane tyrrany. The left is fighting right now an image of wishy-washy weakness. We need to be strong. We need to oppose. Citizens sitting and waiting is the bread and meat of tyrrany.

And I agree with them. I really do.
But, I see a Democratic Congress that seems to be trying but are totally unable to challenge these fascists from any front. The NSA investigation? Gone. The Patriot Act? We shall see but probably law. The budget? The most unrealistic and insane in history. Will probably pass. Sending laws to President for signature without following the law? Done today and Nancy Pelosi was trying to inform everyone. But they seem so impotent in the face of these criminals. If the Democrats cannot do anything, then why should we think we could do anything?

and that Gonzo won't recuse himself from the Abramoff investigation, or turn over Cheney Office emails to Fitz.
Just a couple of other things that outta make your list of outrages today.

when it would be easier to quit. There are times when acting like an ostrich seems like the best defense. I urge you not to. I haven't been here on DU very long but it seems like a very strong community. Over the last couple of days I have watched several DUers say they need to take a break. While I can empathize with them I have been urging them to take the time they need then to come back. We are stronger as a group then by ourselves. You never know when the thread you post will give someone the strength to face another day. I urge you to look back to when Will was kicking ass this morning. You were right there in the fight. Do you remember that feeling? I bet it felt good. Don't forget it. We need you in the fight. I wish I had a better gipper speech but that is about it. I am searching for a quote that isn't quite coming to me.... It talks about the satisfaction being greater when you have to strive harder to achieve it. We have an uphill fight. But I am glad to have you right next to me on the battlements.

9. You are all correct....but damn, I wish we could get some friggin' help! |

Why is there no justice and no truth? I'm more sick of the lies and the deception than I am of the crimes.

10. "The pepper victim is still in the hospital." |
|
I was a nurses aide for a long time. Old mens that are 78 isn't the same as a old lady that old. I mean that's OLD for a man! Of course his doctor is gonna keep him in the hospital a LOT longer than if he was a female or younger.
THAT part of the story there's a lot of good reasons for.
