IS IT TIME TO RECRUIT REPUKES INTO OUR CAUSE?

THE WAR BURNS THROUGH $100,000. EVERY MINUTE!

You can't win votes by arguing as a Democrat, so recruit them into TRUE MAJORITY

Dear Patrick,

President George Bush has come to Congress – to the American people, really – to ask for another $65 billion for war in the Middle East. It’s the fourth time in three years the Administration has asked for extra, unplanned billions to be taken from other needs. What will he do with the money? We’re told this $65 billion (in addition to the $241 billion spent so far1) will be used to "stay the course."

Problem is, no one - not Mr. Bush nor Vice President Dick Cheney nor Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld – seems to know what "the course" is. All citizens are offered is more of the same policies - the same policies which have led Iraq to the brink of civil war and bogged our troops in a hopeless quagmire.

Enough is enough!

Let’s tell Congress that it’s time to use their Constitutional authority to protect our nation’s resources. If we can collect 40,000 messages, we’ll deliver them to their Washington offices before Congress votes on this $65 billion request.

If you're a member of TrueMajorityACTION, click "Reply" and "Send" to send your message to Congress. If you're not a member or would like to edit the letter, visit the following website:

While the President "stays the course," the war’s human and financial toll is mounting. Over 2,200 American soldiers have died and tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians have been killed.2

The war is costing about $4.5 billion per month, or about $100,000 per minute, and the Office of Management and Budget has stated that no one knows how much it will cost this year and into the future.3

The President’s latest $70 billion request comes on top of $50 billion already earmarked for this year, bringing the total to $120 billion and fueling deficit spending that last year totaled more than $400 billion.4

The tight budget in Washington, coupled with the Administration’s insistence on moving forward with billions in tax cuts, is preventing our country from doing great things that could make so many dreams come true that it’s just heartbreaking.

For $70 billion, America could—for example—save 6 million kids who die each year of hunger-related disease in impoverished countries. And it could do this each year for 5 years! 5

Tell your Member of Congress to vote against spending $70 billion more on the Iraq war. Click here.

We'll keep in touch to let you know how this campaign is going.

Thanks for all that you do,

Matt Holland

Here's the message we'll send to your member of Congress:

This latest $65 billion supplemental request is the fourth time in three years the Administration has asked for extra, unplanned billions to be taken from other critical needs and poured into the unending war in the Middle East.

"Staying the course" is costing our nation $100,000 a minute. Our soldiers, our children and our nation are not served by continuing to plunge heedlessly ahead, and we look to you in Congress to exercise responsibility for our future.

I urge you to vote AGAINST this supplemental appropriation.

3. Be polite, refer to them as republiCONs
It has the added value of being factually correct. In the case of Delay, Ney, and some others, they will be cons in more ways than one soon enough.

7. some are on their way
wander the fields and valleys of libertarians (not libertines unfortunately, they only post here) and gun rights advocates posting online and you will find that those who prioritize liberty values above social conservatism are growing rapidly disaffected with the junior champions of the old world odor (otherwise known as economic neoliberals and sociopolitical neoconservatives, or simply the old haute bourgeoisie for short) who are currently squatting on, I mean in, the Executive branch and parts of the Legislature. The worm is turning and Doober and his band of kiddie pirates are mighty small.

Know that there is true common cause, not just a basis for faulty alliance of convenience, and prepare to embrace our brothers and sisters with open hearts and united purpose.

Same shit different century - call it feudalism, the dismantling of the divine right of absolute monarchs, the struggle for rights of the common man and the productive classes against the holders of capital, or countering exploitative globalization abroad and legislated and socially engineered repression at home, la lutte continue.

13. My dear, it is ALWAYS time to recruit Republicans.
I use a capital "R" in this context because it seems to me that Republicans are what we all grew up with - those who followed the old Republican Party - where the beliefs were actually pretty reasonable, and the people following those beliefs were, also. Since the party's been co-opted by the religious WRONG and the power-mongers and anti-civil rights people and latter-day Pharisees and neocons, ALL THEY OFFER IS A CON-JOB. Hence, why I call those individuals republi-CONS. Don't believe what they say or buy what they sell. It's nothing but a CON-JOB.

But those who still consider themselves Republicans, who believe in reasonable things such as not spending so much, keeping government growth down - AND ESPECIALLY OUT OF YOUR PRIVATE LIFE - those are people who have been betrayed by their own party - worse, in a way, than we have. I think these are basically good, patriotic Americans who found themselves run down, and run over by extremists who are now making them look bad. If you've been here for awhile, maybe you've seen some of them posting here. There's Ex-GOP-er, for one, and there are others. They arrive here at our doorstep like unwanted infants in baskets, and find that the really "Big Tent" is with the DEMOCRATS, not the party by which they now feel forsaken.

Many of them are here already - either specifically on this board or elsewhere in the Democratic/liberal/progressive or maybe also libertarian world. They're with US now because they've seen, probably through tear-filled eyes, that they're no longer welcome at the old political homestead. That's because it's been hijacked by maniacs, pirates, cheapskates, out-to-lunch extremists, professional victims, and just plain ol' mean, angry, spiteful pissants with some weird unknown cosmic score to settle. There's a song we learned in Catholic school about "they will know we are Christians by our love." HAH! Not with THESE people. They give Christ, and all who follow Him a horribly bad name, and you know who they are by their HATE. But that's not the average old-style Republican.

Many more Republicans are here, in spirit, because they agree with us about far more than what they (or we realize). And the more they see, and the more crime they witness and the more atrocities and scandals, the farther away from the present-day republi-CON party they'll pull. Straight into OUR open, waiting arms! If you're not sure, just look at ANY poll over ANY period of time in the last four years or so - to the question "do you think America is doing in the right direction, or do you think it's fallen off on the wrong track?" It's a VAST majority that consistently replies "WRONG TRACK." And that is NOT because there are any Dems or Liberals or Progressives running things, mind you. That's because these ASSHOLES are in charge. So more of them are with us than anyone realizes, and that's growing steadily.

YES. NEVER turn a potential ally away! He or she could be your next convert! Souls really CAN be saved!!! I think we'll see more of this as the days drag on - til, hopefully, we reach IMPEACHMENT!!!!

It's ALWAYS time to recruit Republicans. Besides, a whole shitload of 'em are already wandering in the wilderness, searching for a new home, as we speak.
