Randi thinks Hackett was a trade... |
|
she is THEORIZING that the Pukes went to the Dems and said get rid of Hackett and we'll keep the NSA hearings going. And of course if true the Dems got fucked again. Interesting.

I'll give Randi credit -- when it comes to idle speculation, she's the best

6. we haven't seemed to agree on a lot lately |
|
but i too think this is pretty ridiculous. Trade an Ohio Senate candidate for NSA hearings???? Esp. when he was going into a contested primary and the winner ultimately against an incumbent R?

3. Sometimes Randi's theorizing goes a little over the top |
|
She's damn good when she's exposing real information she has researched.
But sometimes she has a tendency to come to conclusions that goes a little too far into unproven tin hat territory.
As f'd up as things get sometimes, I cannot imagine any circumstances in which the Democrats would scuttle what they believe is a good candidate to placate the GOP. Not can I imagine the GOP doing horse trading with the Democrats over a candidate like that.

I haven't really been following the whole Hackett deal (though he is a god to me), but my impression was that the Dems think that Hacket should challenge Jean Schmidt again and go for that seat, since he has the best chance to do so than any other candidate, whereas both he and Brown would have a good chance of winning statewide.
If you have two slots to fill--one at the district level, the other statewide--and you have one person who can fill both very well (Hackett), but another who really only has a chance statewide (Brown), it makes more sense for the former to fill the slot only he can fill and leave the other slot to the latter.
I mean, if Hackett were to when the senate race, we'd have a new Dem senator, but we'd probably still have a Rep. Schmidt sitting in Congress; end result 1 new Dem Senator and 1 old Repub representative. If Brown wins the senate seat and Hackett beats Schmidt (which he almost did the first time, and will certainly be able to do the second time, now that Schmidt's idiocy has been shown to the entire country), we end up with both a new Dem senator and a new Dem representative.
I'm probably completely wrong that that's the actual case, but what I have above is certainly much more plausible than some sell-out to the GOP.
