Francine Busby's Special Election To Congress Is In Seven Weeks
April 11.

California congressional district 50.

This is Duke Cunningham's seat.

It is a Republican leaning district, but Francine is ahead in the polls.

Here is Francine's website.

1. woah, 7 weeks? Seemed farther away to me
Anyone know what the mood is like in CA-50? Coz this is the first special election since I started paying attention involving a Republican resigning in disgrace. The previous two were because Shrub gave the incumbents a job

2. That's why this one is so important
it is going to be national news.

If Francine takes it, there will be a two or three day news cycle about how this is the beginning of the tidal wave. If a reform Democrat can run in a Republican district and win on integrity - the media will be all over this.

For the life of me, I can't understand why she is not receiving more attention here at DU.

Instead of just talking and griping about ending Bush and Cheney's regime and blunting their power, this election is actually taking a huge step towards actually DOING it.

3. Yeah, look at this way
If she wins. 1 down, 14 to go (The number of seats needed to swing control of the House)

4. Yep.
Plus much will be made of the fact that she pulled it off in a Republican district.

In Grand Rapids , Mich. about as regressive as Phoenix. But that freshman Democrat ( VanderVeen?) lost in the next general election. Have to keep reminding the public of how corrupt DC is and become the party to end that corruption to make Francine's potential win stick. Good luck though. Will be in San Diego next week and see how we can help.
