4. That is part of why we have W
In the early 60's the Republicans started this movement but were not successful until they got unified sufficiently by revenge focused on all those that they believed wrongly brought Nixon down. That is their legacy and mindset. Revenge or at least manipulated into using revenge as a reason to get the Flying Monkeys into the air.

6. Same group and same MO. Here is a link.
This is the story Cynthia McKinney reported before congress. This is what happens when gov't officials break the law and don't get put in jail for it. This is what happens when people are so stupid as to watch a rerun and not even realize it is a rerun and still allow themselves to be duped by the same people even.

"Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney are at it again.

Last week, Rumsfeld told the press we should be preparing for "the Long War," saying of the war this administration has stirred up with its attack on Iraq that, "Just as the Cold War lasted a long time, this war is something that is not going to go away."

The last time Rumsfeld talked like this was in the 1970s, in response to the danger of peace presented by Richard Nixon. "

8. The BFEE Does Worse Than Watergate Every Day
But they own the news
and they own the Republican majority in Congress (through TRMPAC, ARMPAC, etc)
and they own the voting machinez
and they own the churches

What have we got?

blogs
hearings in the Capitol basement, covered only on CSPAN
protests that nobody knows about
millions of faxes, phone calls and letters that never seem to have any impact

12. Not Complacent, Paralyzed By Fear
There is a big difference between being complacent and being paralyzed by fear.

Those who assume that the people will "do something" when things get "bad enough" fail to grasp this distinction
(while the likes of Bush, Cheney and Rove understand it all too well).

14. was referring to the complacent public of the past 25+ years
during which too many of the complacent public "assume that the people will "do something" when things get "bad enough""

15. That is a Sentiment I Mostly See Here On DU
the people will "do something" when things get "bad enough"

That is the reason they are building a theocracy -- to prevent that sort of thing by keeping the people in line.
