Junior is very busy trying to get rid of the new Palestinian "democracy"..
He had one of his State Dept "spokesmen" out today, insisting that Hamas would need to give back all the money that we gave them when we thought someone else was going to win. The overthrow has started. The White House, along with their Israeli allies, have decided that Hamas cannot stay in power. The decision has already been made. Look for more headlines that say, "Palestinian shoots Israeli schoolchildren" or "Israel says Palestinians must stop their violence agains Israelis", etc. It seems to me the game plan has already started.

1. And the outcome of all this shenanigans will be
a stronger Hamas, I fear.

2. And just a little while ago their plan was anyone but arafat.
Well they got 'anyone'.

Has it occurred to them that encouraging Hamas to run a responsible uncorrupt government might actually stabilize the situation and lead to something resembling peace? Seems not.

3. It probably hasn't.
Sure, Hamas might lead to stability, high employment, and an outbreak of universal optimism that leads to a permanent peace solution that everybody likes.

Then again, it might not. And if it doesn't, it might lead to something worse than they had, both for Israel and the Palestinians. I'm not in the prediction business, however, so ...

And the US--just like France and Britain--is free to subsidize any government it feels like, subject to domestic laws and politics. Which also entails "is free to not subsidize any government it feels like." It's one thing to recognize that Hamas was elected; it's another thing to fund parts of their operation. Money's fungible.

4. If there's anyone on earth who feels at present that the Bush
administration from 2000 to right now has intelligently and sensitively managed policy in the Middle East, I hope he or she is swiftly rounded up and institutionalized.

They held a vote. Hamas won. Deal with it, Dubya, you little puke.

6. I'm of two opinions on this one...
I love Israel and I don't believe that any nation has a right to say they have no right to exist.

I am clearly NOT anti-semitic at all.

HAMAS is clearly in the wrong to me. They need to give up the whole "Israel should be destroyed" thing.
That stuff STINKS. They don't have a right to have that policy. It should be live and let live over there,
especially since the Israeli government is paying money to keep the Palestinian government stable.

HAMAS is a terrorist organization. They SHOULD be forced to repay money to the people who have had family members
destroyed by suicide bombers. That's only fair.

Until HAMAS gives up terrorism, they don't deserve foreign aid, especially since they are allies of Al Quaida.

7. One thing I have difficulty understanding.....?
Hamas says "Israel should be destroyed", we are told. The things I see with my eyes do not match what I am told over the TV and airwaves. I usually see the weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the Israelis - not in the hands of Hamas. Suicide bombs are really poor defensive weapons. Just my opinion, but I think we are fed crapola up to our eyeballs when it comes to the Israeli/Palestinian issue, and we believe what we want to believe...
