Backlash! Backlash! Squawk! Impeachment Backlash!
Edited on Sun Feb-19-06 01:51 PM by pat_k
George Will, parrot in chief, is squawking -- Dems better not actually DO anything! If they do, the mythical Basklash beast will get them all!

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11435862/site/newsweek

. . .Give those guys committee gavels, and they will be as manic about investigating the Bush administration as Republicans were about investigating the Clinton administration. (Do you remember Whitewater? Can you say anything about what was at issue?) Furthermore, there might be a noisy and not negligible cohort pushing for impeachment of President Bush for such high crimes and misdemeanors as the premise of the war with Iraq and the presence of Dick Cheney. Short-term memory loss being a bipartisan affliction, Democrats probably would not remember that the public was so annoyed by Republican attempts to impeach Bill Clinton for his glandular excesses, Democrats actually gained House seats in the first post-Monica election. . .

The Bush Syndicate said we should fear "mushroom clouds...in forty-five minutes." (Read it again.) This is called "terrorism"--in the form of a bomb threat. (Title 18, Section 844 paragraph e)

The Bush Syndicate refuses to end there criminal program of spying on Americans without warrants. (Title 50, Section 1805)

The Bush Syndicate is torturing -- a criminal violation of our War Crimes act (Title 18 Section 2441)

But the Dems better not accuse them of these crimes or make any noise about Impeaching Bsuh! If they do, they'll be Soorrry! The public will react the same way they did when the Republicans mounted their failed attempt to Impeach Clinton for sex outside of marriage (something 70% of married men have done, and you can bet most of those guys have lied about it).

Oh no!! What if the Dems try to Impeach Bush?? Gee, I'm shaking in my boots.

1. Unfortunately many Dems in congress appear to believe this garbage
otherwise I can't imagine why they vote and act the way they do.

8. Ridicule from our side is a VERY effective way to counter their irrational
. . .fear.

Ridicule and derision from "them" has successfully made them make them flinch. We need to fight fire with fire.

When they stand up, I don't doubt that they get a negative reaction they from beltway boobs in their DC social circle.

We need show them that out here, there is NO such negative reaction -- not from anyone voter that matters to them -- and in fact, the OPPOSITE is true. The public disdains them when they cave in and appauld them when they stand up.

3. What a stinking hypocrite
He was an enthusiastic supporter of every one of the GOP witch hunts against Clinton.

How do creeps like him look at themselves in the mirror?

5. And the public will certainly view a blowjob in the same light as a war
Actually, I think even Americans are learning the difference.

9. Oh yeah. I can hear it now. "The public could care less that ther sons. .
Edited on Sun Feb-19-06 02:21 PM by pat_k
. . .and daughters are dying and being maimed in Iraq." They don't care that the administration terrorized Americans into a war that has destabilized the middle east. The public doesn't care that the Bush kid is torturing in our name. The public just doesn't care. They want the administration to be able to get on with business (??? which would be ???), not deal with this trivial distraction."

Oh yeah, sure. That'll fly.

They are so steeped in their own bullshit their mental faculties have failed them.

7. The threat has worked in the past
Most recently with Alito. The dems are afraid to take a stand. They await with their fingers in the water testing the temperature before taking a stand. It has long been time to throw away the thermometer and STAND UP.

They are more interested in their careers than in fixing the f*cuked up mess.

10. 25 did take a stand. . . not a trivial victory. . . But. . .
Edited on Sun Feb-19-06 02:32 PM by pat_k
. . . we need to learn not to let their failures go by unchallenged.

The ones who DID NOT stand up on Alito need to hear from us. And keep hearing from us -- in face-to-face meetings.

We need to show them the meaning of REAL Democratic Backlash when they fold. Until they are confronted with an "in your face" reaction from us, their fear of rousing the the mythical Basklash beast when they take a stand will be unchecked.

18.  Nothing Wrong With Using a Thermometer…
…but instead of using it to measure public opinion, they've got it shoved up Karl Rove's ass.

11. LOL!!!!
NOBODY wanted the Clinton impeachment. We knew it was contrived crap.

EVERYBODY WANTS BUSH IMPEACHED. Except for the usual lemming minority.

Backlash? Americans are begging for impeachment. Pleading for it.

BushCo Republicans are going to be so confused.

12. I don't know what the issue was with Whitewater
because there was no issue with Whitewater. It was a manufactured scandal.

There's nothing manufactured about outing a covert CIA agent to punish her husband for getting out factual information that undermined the case for war. There's nothing manufactured about lying about WMD's to get us into multi-hundred billion dollar war with thousands of casualties. The catastrophic non-response to Hurricane Katrina is just a bit more serious than some "glandular excesses".

George Will is obviously afraid that the Dems will actually go after this stuff because he knows that it is not comparable to what they went after Clinton for. I just hope that the idiots in our party don't fall for the obvious scare tactics.

23. He is useful as an indicator of the next episode in their story arc. .
He pushes the company line and disseminates propaganda trial balloons. The latter makes him a useful barometer. He is often at his most dangerous when he puts on his "reasonable guy" or "white house critic" hat -- there is usually some insidious little twist in there for Dems to pick up and stab themselves with.

13. THIS IS A BLASTFAX MEME FROM ROVE!
Tori Clarke has been making the rounds saying the EXACT same thing! "Dems better not get to angry here, or there's going to be a backlash against them!" Says who, Tori, some republican propaganda whore? Will just appears to have received Karl's blastfax, too, but I think he gets paid more for his squawking. After all, somebody has to be footing the bill for all those $3 words!

WORD TO WILL (and Tori, and the rest of you): STFU about backlash! You're about to taste backlash like you've never seen it before, you fascist fucks!

14. My email to dear Will:
You think there will be an impeachment backlash? LOL! Let's try it and see.

Because right now, there is no law in the United States. There is no constitution. There is only Bush and lies.

Do me a favor? Spend next summer in a Southern coastal city.
