2. why? because it is a "swing state"?
I think that DNC 2008 should be held in NYC or NO, or where ever in the USA we are most collectively hurting...

8. Do any elected Dems feel that the 2004 election was stolen?
If the DNC Dem party won't fight for voters rights, why focus the convention on an issue that elected Dems run away from?

15. The Next Election Has Already Been Stolen In Ohio
The 2006 and 2008 elections were stolen in Ohio last November,
when all of the reform initiatives were robbed of some 30% of the vote.
Blackwell literally turned a 2-1 landslide FOR into a 2-1 "landslide" against.

It would be a travesty to hold our convention in Ohio
if we can do nothing to get our votes counted there.

5. As far as voter fraud, Ohio/FL are most hurting. We need to keep a foot
on the neck of that evil place. We need to send Ohioans a message to not give up hope. NY is already going to break Dem. Presently, NO seems to have a questionable infrastrucutre for a good convention.

9. Here are your choices
Let the bids begin...I am in Denver so I would lOVE it here!We have a new convention center and a ton of new hotels. August is not a bad month weather wise.

quote......
Hotline confirms list of cities
Hotline On Call has confirmed the list of cities (which I posted on Wednesday) which have accepted an invitation to bid for the 2008 Democratic Convention:

Anaheim, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Phoenix and San Antonio

17. For what it is worth, I think Denver is the best choice on this list.
Orlando and Phoenix are also good options. All are in purple states with a good chance of swinging blue.

New Orleans doesn't have the infrastructure rebuilt to support the convention -- the claim would be that Democrats were taking valuable resources away from the rebuilding effort for their own self-aggrandizement. Also, the city is still highly vulnerable to being inundated by another hurricane this summer. :-(

Las Vegas does not have an image the Democrats need associated with their party right now. Detroit, Minneapolis, and New York are already overwhelmingly liberal. Anaheim is too close to Hollywood.

Dallas and San Antonio have some merit, since Texas is not as red as many seem to think and it could, in theory, become a battleground state. But having the convention there could also backfire.

are so hot in August. Colorado is so purple that it is the best choice.

10. I think it should have multiple locales: Columbus; WV strip mine; AustinTX
Wherever there's a big footprint of GOP corruption, destuction, or Culture of Death. Vis:

A site of mountaintop removal in West Virginia, where communities downstream get flooded by sludge at each significant rainfall.

Columbus, Gahanna, or Warren County, Ohio, where there's prima facie (sp?) evidence of fraud.

An Oregon lumber mill, abandoned due to practice of exporting for milling.

A successful American industry site (where, I don't know!)

Yucca Mountain.

A Iowa family farm threatened to be put out of business in part by regulation that favors factory farms.

A National Forest that was meant to be protected but has been logged or mined, then abandoned.

New Orleans!

Philly: constitution Hall, where patriots told the previous King George to fuck off.

Austin, TX, where DeLay gerrymandered the voting districts to reduce Democratic representation.

The thing can have one site as the hub, with satelite conventions communicating by video. Use the technology! Many states involved, more people personally interested, more issues explored & illustrated, the array of the GOP (not just Bush) exploitation laid out. With more local press, there's the potential for more interest in each state and more of a sense of local ownership, and maybe even less Rove-decreed spin on the proceedings. I'd hope for election fraud to be a central issue, but the overall message is Americans everywhere are hurt by the GOP aristocracy; Americans everywhere will vote them out. Now the cost? Not that much more than a single mammoth convention, as security at the satelites wouldn't have to be as tight.

So thanks for the idea that Ohio should have it, but I'd be jazzed about something broader.

is to be the location....maybe they should stay where they are....in DC., if the location is in regard to the most victims of the crime...they should have it in Iraq...New Orleans victims are as far flung as the crimes and criminals.

20. Make it Detroit. Let Conyers get center stage as much as possible.
Failing that, Toledo is only 60 miles from Detroit. And if the Patriot Act is as bad as feared, we can hold it across the river in Windsor, Ontario.

Hands Down. Very purple state and if we win Colorado we will most likely win New Mexico,Nevada, and possibly Arizona. We should campaign heavily in the west, it's an extremely purple place!
