Inconsistencies by Mary Matalin on MTP
Matalin's bitter and rude defense of Cheney on Meet The Press raises new questions:

1. She stated that it took half an hour for Cheney's ambulance to reach the scene of the accident. How can that be considering Cheney's cardiac condition?

2. Did Cheney follow the ambulance out? Matalin gives the impression that Cheney was bustling about getting care for Whittington. Did Cheney go with the ambulance? Follow it? Did he see Whittington that same day? Where was Cheney, precisely, all the rest of Saturday and then Sunday morning prior to leaving the ranch?

3. Why does Matalin continue to say that she no longer works for Cheney? She went with him to FOX News and went back to the WH with him. She was the decision maker on Sunday morning. Doesn't she get paid for this?

Does anyone have more? Let's list all the problems raised by her (aside from her cruel mouth and withered heart).

1. She no longer works for him like...
...Brownie no longer worked for the administration from September until November of last year, or like Karen Hughes no longer worked for Bush until she worked for Bush again.

But the biggest problem I had with Matalin's MTP presentation was her non-confirmation that Cheney had only one beer. She tried to dodge the question by saying it was ludicrous to think that the Secret Service would let Cheney loose with a gun, if he were tanked. As I said in an earlier thread:

A) Nobody credible has suggested that he was tanked.

B) Between "one beer" and "tanked," motor functions and judgment become impaired.

C) It is far more ludicrous to think that the Secret Service--or anyone else, for that matter--could ever tell Dick Cheney what he can and cannot do.

7. If the Secret Service can't stop Jenna and Barbara from getting tanked
how the hell are they supposed to stop Cheney?

10. the business about wanting empathy for Cheney...
...that particularly makes me sick. It's so flatly transparent.

2. I saw her on Friday, three feet from Cheney
It was a live CNN view of the two of them leaving the White House.

Funny thing is ... neither is working for the best interests of the American people.

3. I thought her excuse for the blaming of the victim seemed
a little desperate. She seemed to be blaming the reporter. The local reporter misinterpreted Armstong, who really wasn't blaming Whittington. I don't think she addressed McClellan shifting blame to Whittington at all.

There seemed to be some kind of circular logic. Her excuse for cheney not immediately reporting it to the national press was because they needed to get all the facts straight so the best way to do that was to tell the local reporter who could put it out on the national wire. But then when the story alludes to Whittington being at fault, it's because the local reporter got it wrong. Not that Armstrong was pushing the blame on Whittington. And there was no explanation for McClellan doing the same thing.

4. She was a nasty sight to behold.
Did you catch her hokey little line about Maureen Dowd? She's part of the "smart set". Dowd was looking at her with amused fascination.

8. How does Carville stay with that troll?
I remember telling my wife how thankful I was that she is liberal. If she wasn't, life would be hell. I could love her but not respect her in the same way. I wonder if their marriage will last.

9. She actually said that Darth doesn't drink.
I think that she and her husband laugh all the way to the bank. They are hucksters.
