FR is a conservative site, this is a pro-Democratic Party site
I have been looking at the list of forums to see if there was a better forum to post this in, but I didn't see any meta-dicussion forums. Perhaps I missed something.

Anyhow, I think FR has a leg up on DU in one respect. If you look at FR's posting guidelines they say:

"Posting Guidelines
Broadly stated, the goals of this site are to further conservatism, expose political corruption, and recover a truly constitutional form of government. If these are not your goals, you may find another discussion site more suitable."

On the other hand, here we have -

"Discussion Forum Rules...Who We Are: Democratic Underground is an online community for Democrats and other progressives. Members are expected to be generally supportive of progressive ideals, and to support Democratic candidates for political office. Democratic Underground is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, and comments posted here are not representative of the Democratic Party or its candidates."

FR is a board for the conservative movement. This is a board to support a political party.

21. Actually
I voted for Nader in 2004, not Bush.

If Kucinich or Sharpton had won the nomination in 2004 I would have considered voting Democratic.

3. I would love to know the name of any Democrat
who would be welcomed on FR as a "conservative".

I suspect it will be a very short list.

8. The range of acceptable conservative opinion
is limited to blind support of the administration. Divergence within conservative thought will get you banned more quickly than you can say "balanced budget."

14. Thanks for making that point for all of the "conservative" Democrat.s
Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 08:54 PM by patrice
I know. People understand the value of financial conservatism. Real Conservatives wouldn't be welcome at FR.

4. But their website sucks
I get a headache from reading it, not just from the content, but the fonts are too small and the whole website is so visually unappealing.

While DU rocks! So much easier to read and negotiate.

who support the Neocons in charge. I doubt any self respecting REAL Conservative gives much credit to that board. Not to mention the people who post there are nitwits.

11. But all progressives are welcomed here
I've seen posts by Greens and by people who say they are not affiliated with a party, and they stay up and their message is discussed. And if you read enough posts, you'll see that DUers have a broad spectrum of opinion of what "support" is and even what "The Democratic Party" is. There are even some ex-GOP folks who post here-you might wish to ask them if they have been to FR and if it is open to all conservatives.

16. That's not entirely true.
Have you tried to count how many attacks on Green Party members there are here in the last four years? There's more than you can shake a stick at.

Green Party members get a mixed response here. Some like them. Some simply don't. It's the same for Social Democrats and socialists/anarcho-socialists.

18. Exactly
On FR you don't get attacked for saying you support the Constitution Party or Libertarian Party.

19. From what I've noticed.. it's only when members..
---diss the Democratic candidate, or tell members here to dump the party and join the Green party is the only time Moderators step in.

And it makes sense in that case for them to send a friendly reminder that this is the "Democratic Underground" and not the "Greenie Underground"

As far as Murdoch goes.. I have his last 65 posts down to memory. I know every single post title he's sent for the past 4 months..

Trust me on this one -- there's no reason to waste any time telling him about Free Republic. He is very, very familiar with them.

VERY familiar.

If you catch my drift.

20. So?
Someone took the initiative to put up this board, so they can restrict it like that. I like it that way. And anyone who doesn't like it can leave.
