BULLSHIT - Not one single Indiana Dem is challenging Richard Lugar |
|
That means Lugar, a Republican, is going to serve his sixth term in the Senate. Filing for the May 2 primary in Indiana closed today.
This is so much bullshit. What happened to the 50-state strategy we've been hearing about?

We've got three Democrats in Texas challenging Kay Bailey Hutchison for her Senate seat. Can we loan you one of our guys to challenge Nelson?

10. Please do so. Check out the Nebraska forum. It's pretty bad with the |
|
dems here don't want anything to do with 'our' candidate.
I'm voting for my dog. His name is Jack. Hope only having one name isn't an automatic disqualification for office because I can swear without any qualms that he'd do a lot better than Nelson has. And he barks when he hears strange noises in the night too. Which means he's more alert to enemy attacks than the bush** administration.
So Jack gets my vote.

2. I guess nobody thought they could take down Luger. |

I honestly don't know. The Indiana state Democratic Party would have the answers.

...but maybe I should visit the Indiana forum to see what they think about this development.

Try running somebody with the economic platform of an FDR or a Johnson, somebody with working class fire in their belly. He may or may not beat Luger, but I bet he'd give Luger one hell of a fight. If FDR can't beat Luger, I dunno who could except Jesus himself.

13. Lugar's loaded with drug money, he's an incumbent, |
|
and he's a pretty good Senator for Indiana. Actually, he's one of the saner Republicans. Shit, he was nominated for a Nobel Prize. Indiana isn't a place that's particularly receptive to Roosevelt or Johnsonian liberalism. It's a very conservative state.
I still think it's a shame that no one's running against him. But I can well understand why no one feels it's worth the effort. We have more viable candidates that can use the party's funds and manpower.

8. First the DNC has to figure out were Indiana is. |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-20-06 11:07 PM by izzybeans
We've needed help for a long time. "The Bloody 8th" has been bloody sans help from the national party. The locals have had to fight battles against the republican machine and their attack politics. And you know what in the 8th, a hot bed of fundamentalism, where the current incumbent is a anti-choicer with no other agenda-they almost one with a carpetbagger (the DNCs one contribution-send in someone from Mass. without a platform or money).
I am not surprised no one ran against Luger. The DNC folded up their tent here long ago. No one has been working to run nor been asked to run to my knowledge. Even so they wouldn't get the suppor they would need. Beating Lugar would be an uphill battle and nearly impossible at this point. But only because of the long term complacency.
I hope they at least show up to support the Congressional races.
