Ariana Huffington is a goddess...
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 03:36 PM by LeftNYC
watching this Coulter-Hannity-Huffington square off shows exactly how great Ariana is. Coulter and Hannity were like school children and Huffington was calm, cool, and relaxed. Just brilliant!

even Colmes had a good, solid comeback to Coulter asking her what the difference between her and Alec Baldwin...and that, with the hunting accident, Cheney finally got some combat experience. I love it.

Poor Ann was so out of it.

2. I missed it. Did Colmes do anything at all?
Or was he too busy crapping in his depends the minute Hannity started to lean on him?

4. it's funny because I can remember her as a wingnut in the 90's.
She was such a huge fan of Newt Gingrich.

7. I think she turned just after divorcing her Texas Republican husband.
She does know where a lot of bodies are buried.

9. Arianna's husband was from California, wasn't he?
Not Texas. And while married to him, it should be remembered that she out-Matalined Mary Matalin as a Republican apologist. I'm glad she's seen the light, but she wasn't always like this.

11. Yes, from California
He came very close to winning an election as a Republican for U.S. Senate in 1994, running as a previously obscure Congressman; mostly based on good looks, lots of money, and Arianna guiding his campaign.

Having said that I think Arianna has been very sharp in tearing into and taking down the false front of the Republican Party in recent years. I have to bring her up the next time I run into someone wanting to write off Wes Clark as a Democrat because he sometimes voted for Republican Presidents prior to the 90's. Ariana was a little more tied into the Republican Party than that, and more recently. Now I appreciate hearing or reading what she has to say. Times change, people too.

12. Why, do you think, it is so acceptable for some....
and so UNacceptable for others? Wise words: "Times change, people too."

Anyway, that's where I was going with that post. I was hoping to get a discussion of just this started.

13. The military is a hot button topic for many activists
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 04:42 PM by Tom Rinaldo
it used to be an automatic one for me too. I think that having Republican Presidents for most of my adult life who so frequently abused the use of our military left me with a touch of knee jerk conditioning against the military. But times and people do change. Used to be once that most Democrats automatically were suspicious of millionaires too. Now a lot of us enthusiastically back people like Kerry and Edwards and Warner. Actually most of our 2004 crop were millionaires, at least single digit ones if you tally their total assets, including Dean and Clark.

14. There is a massive difference between listening to what someone has to say
and voting for them for President. Until I hear some reasonable explanation as to why he voted for Nixon and Reagan, I would be hard pressed to fully support Clark in primaries.

But I'll leave a link to a post I made that speaks to your question below. Meanwhile consider this:

Richard Nixon ran against George McGovern for President and defeated him. Ronald Reagan ran against Jimmy Carter and defeated him. George McGovern endorsed Wes Clark for President in 2004. Jimmy Carter called up Wes Clark unsolicited, and encouraged Clark to run for President in 2004. I guess they weren't as hard pressed as you to not move beyond something that happened twenty or more years ago.

OK, here's the link to my post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2468490&mesg_id=2470536
