To what extent is the Iraqi military infiltrated by insurgents? |
|
According to the NYT, the guys who blew up the mosque in Samarra were wearing Iraqi commando uniforms. There was a piece on NPR a couple of nights ago about Iraqi battallions whose job it is to guard the oil pipelines being involved in sabotaging them. The stories keep trickling out. Are ANY of the new Iraqi military actually committed to their alleged mission (defending the civilian population, fighting insurgents, propping up the government)--or are we just training the whole lot to be more effective when they desert and go home to their sectarian militias or join the Sunni insurgents? Someone ought to ask Bush, Rummy and Shotgun that question, IMO.

2. Well, considering the "insurgents" are Iraqis... |
|
My guess would be "most of them".

They will take U.S. Money and guns, but we all know where their loyalties lie and its NOT with the U.S. It'll be with one of the warring factions in the civil war that we started.
