DNC welcomed in several cities for convention. RNC...not so much
Early Jockeying to Host 2008 Conventions Underway
Planning for the 2008 national party conventions is in its infancy. But a number of cities have expressed their desire to host, allowing analysts to begin the quadrennial location guessing game.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) late last year sent out a list of 35 cities it regarded as potential convention sites, and 11 cities responded with shows of interest, according to spokesman Dag Vega. The cities are Anaheim, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New Orleans, New York, Orlando, Phoenix and San Antonio.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) sent out requests for proposals to 31 cities Feb. 14, and spokesman Aaron McLear said the party has not yet received any official rejections or proposals. He noted, though, that two of the cities, Chicago and Indianapolis, have already indicated they will not be submitting proposals, according to local news reports.

1. The GOP convention should be in Baghdad
I'm sure they'll be welcomed with flowers.

7. Yeah, or maybe New Orleans. They can help build a house or
two while they are there.

God knows NO could use the tourist revenue.

2. The extra policing for demonstrators costs $$$$
And the security will shut down parts of the city so that Shrub and Crashcart can come visit. Airports are disrupted, public places are evacuated, streets closed for hours.

Not exactly conducive to shopping or sightseeing.

6. The RNC should hold it in Dubai
I'm sure they will get a very warm welcome there.

And security should be very tight
