Documents support Cheney’s shooting account
This is about the most shotty reporting I have ever seen. I don't know who Lisa Myers is but she needs to be fired for this bullshit.

WASHINGTON - NBC News has obtained new documents regarding the shooting accident involving Vice President Dick Cheney.

NBC News filed an Open Records Act request with the sheriff's office in Kenedy County, Texas, which investigated the shooting. Late Wednesday, NBC received two dozen pages of documents, including hand-written affidavits on the shooting never before made public.

There are six new affidavits from members of the shooting party. Most are dated Feb. 15, four days after the shooting. One is dated Feb. 17, almost a week after the vice president accidentally shot his friend, Harry Whittington. Some law enforcement experts say that's an unusually long period of time, after a shooting, to gather written statements from witnesses. Ideally, they say, investigators like to get such affidavits when memories are still fresh, and can't be influenced by other witness accounts

In this case, all the accounts are similar and consistent with how Vice President Cheney has already described the incident. The statements say Cheney and his friend were about 30 yards apart when the vice president shot, aiming for a single bird. The statements all agree this was an accident, and no one places blame on Whittington.

Several of the statements say that no one was drinking alcohol during the late-afternoon hunt — again, consistent with the vice president's account. One member of the hunting party does volunteer that she had a glass of wine at lunch, four hours before the accident.

Lisa Myers is NBC's senior investigative correspondent.

7. She's one of the 'reporters' who was around after Katrina.
I've heard her positively gushing over dimson and his admin and wasn't impressed.
She occasionally is a talking head on MSNBC.

6. She's a shill, but this article doesn't demonstrate it.
It notes that an unusually long time to gather affadavits. The implication that the witnesses had time to get their stories straight doesn't need to be spelled out -- and indeed, a reporter can't spell it out unless there's real evidence that that's what happened. The headline is bad, but reporters don't usually write their own headlines.

8. Well what about this line?
"Several of the statements say that no one was drinking alcohol during the late-afternoon hunt — again, consistent with the vice president's account. One member of the hunting party does volunteer that she had a glass of wine at lunch, four hours before the accident."

Cheney has said he had a beer at lunch. That makes two members of the hunting party. Or can't I count?

9. Wow! That's a highly skeptical report.
They had four days to get their stories together and they all told identical stories.

I wonder if anyone interviewed the ranch hands, or the cooks and waitstaff. They were out having elegant barbecue lunches of venison under the ancient oak tree. There were other people there besides the house guests. Are domestic employees not equal as witnesses? Did they only interview the rich cronies?

15. So true especially when it comes to Bill's sex life. That was all she
worked on for 5 years in the mid-90s - trying to find women who claimed to have had sex with Bill.

I always felt that talking about the Clinton's sex life was the closet she ever came to actually having sex herself.

12. My problem with this .....
Cheney (via his SS guys) is above the law for telling investigating officers "to come back tommorrow". I just don't understand why every American thug doesn't have this "right"
