FreeRepublic does not like Free Speech |
|
Hey guys,
You may remember me from the "I Believe!" threads after the election. I've laid low for a while now. Anyway, through an internet search on my username, I came across several threads on FreeRepublic about my threads from way back when. The Freepers got quite the kick out of witnessing my disillusionment as I came to realize W would be re-elected.
Anyway, I didn't harbor any ill will toward those guys and wanted to post a few comments to some of the people who posted in the Freeper threads about my threads. So I signed up to FreeRepublic, posted a couple PMs and made one anti-Hillary comment in a thread speculating about a Clinton-Clinton ticket in 2008. I'm not really a fan of Hillary but that's neither here nor there. But in my post I said something like "I'm a Democrat, but I wouldn't vote for Hillary." One post.
And I was banned. What a bunch of inbred, intolerant xenophobes. Free Republic. Right. Free. You betcha.
Morans.

3. I'm glad too. I like having a DEMS only web site. |

Before Air America, DU was pretty much the ONLY DEMS only place in media.
Plenty of other places on the web to post pro-Bush or anti-DEM stuff...

4. I've seen admitted Repubs post here |
|
The only banning I witnessed was when they started pushing people's buttons. What have you seen?

6. We used to have a token Republican named "Repub" |
|
He was here forever- he was a moderate Republican- he either left or was eventually tomb-stoned...

5. Yeah, both sites have rules. But so what? |
|
THis place is for, by, and about Democrats/Liberals. FR is for, by, and about Republicans/Conservatives. They don't allow trolls from our side? Big fucking whoop. I wouldn't expect them to tolerate Dems on their site. Why invite moles to a planning session?
Rules is rules.

I WASN'T trolling. I was Hillary bashing. You'd think they would greet me with open arms.
I agree that if I was going around bashing Repubs and otherwise being a disrupting influence, flush me outta there. That's true on any forum. But just to admit I'm a Dem?
No class at all.

11. I wouldn't have too much trouble with their policy except... |
|
....for the fact that the owner used the First Amendment as a defense against copyright infringement when the LA Times and The Washington Post sued freerepublic.com.

13. their "policy" is peculiar, to say the least |
|
As noted above, I got banned for just saying Anncoulter doesn't seem real nice. I can't think of a real left-wing counterpart to Coulter. But for argument's sake, can you imagine anyone getting banned from DU for saying that, I don't know, Michael Moore or Mike Malloy, isn't too sweet?
NOTE: I am not comparing Moore or Malloy to Coulter. It's just that there is no counterpart on the left for that bloody cyst of a human.
