Was there any mention of the South Dakota law on the news last night? |
|
I flipped back and forth between CBS, NBC and ABC and didn't see any report at all on that egregious anti-choice piece of shit law they passed in South Dakota yesterday.
My guess is that the mainstream news won't mention this because they are in cahoots with the Republicans who want to keep as many people in the dark as possible about what is going on in this country. After all, we wouldn't want people to mobilize to fight for their rights, would we? Better that the masses be kept satiated with Ipods and Big Macs as their rights are being taken away.
And anyway, what could be more important then the latest news on Brittany Spears?

1. I saw it on one of the network news shows. CNN did a big story on |
|
it yesterday.
I flipped by MSNBC and it was listed as one of the stories coming up.

2. Anti-choice? You mean pro-rape, right? |
|
Anyone who supports legislation like that is simply fighting to protect the rights of rapists and child molesters.
Spread the word...

4. These people need to be seen for exactly what they are |
|
Cruel, unfeeling and draconian. Maybe this is our only hope of waking this country up.

3. I heard it on the BBC about midnight, and on NPR this morning. |
|
NPR framed it as a law specifically designed to be taken up by the U.S. Supremes ASAP. So perhaps the law was written in as draconian a manner as possible to speed its path to SCOTUS.
Certainly forcing a raped woman/girl to give birth to rapist spawn is barbaric beyond all comprehension.

5. CNN had coverage. SD senate and house passed, now they |
|
have to meet in conference, work out the differences, and agree to final bill.

6. What differences is there to work out? |
|
It's being outlawed with no exceptions.
I also noticed how they defeated an amendment that would have given the decision to the voters. Why do people still think they live in a democracy when the minority is deciding this issue?
