Any Dems Supporting Ports Sale?
I haven't heard of any. Yet, I've been unable to really follow the news the past couple of days.

4. I think Carter was being sly.

Repugs become instantly suspicious of the port takeover when they hear Carter said he's OK with it. Hee hee.

7. Lieberman has issued a statement expressing concern
over this issue.

February 21, 2006

The Honorable Michael Chertoff Secretary U.S. Department of Homeland Security Washington, DC 20528

The Honorable John W. Snow Secretary Department of Treasury 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Washington, DC 20220

Dear Secretary Chertoff and Secretary Snow:

We are writing to express our serious concerns regarding your review of the purchase of Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company by Dubai Ports World (DP World). As this transaction will result in the transfer of multiple terminal operations in major U.S. ports to a Dubai-government owned entity, it would seem to demand a more rigorous assessment, if not a full investigation. Even more significant is the historic use of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a base for terrorism financing and operations. Therefore, we ask that you provide a briefing to our Committee, as soon as possible, on the basis for the decision to allow this transaction to proceed.

13. Wow! That was quick. As recently as Sun. he was "not yet prepared"
to block the sale. We had a thread on it yesterday, which is what I was going by:

14. Well he's covering himself pretty well.
Since everyone in congress is against this, Joementum's got to put some sort of statement out expressing his "concern"

15. Biden isn't as strongly against it as I thought he'd be. Sounded
like a limp noodle in the local DE paper the other day.
