The DLC is the EXTREME right-wing of the Democratic Party
The DLC is a highly influential and effective corporate and right-wing

conspiracy to infilitrate and neutralize the Democratic party as an

opposition force in the two-party American political system.

3. The DLC doesn't want a political party - they want a ruling party.
They like the Republicans are in the sheep shearing business.

To just follow attacks with random links? It seems to be a strategy of yours.

12. I agree.
But the DLC spends the fortune-500's millions trying to convince everyone that THEY are the true democrats.

They are liars, they are dangerous, and they are running our party into the ground. Every Democrat, Green, and Independant needs to know this and be able to talk about it.

Progressive will take the party back but we have to know who we have to defeat to get it back.

22. Not only that, it turned out that the way the "progressives" got control
was because Don Segretti and the Plumbers ratfucked the Democratic primaries.

"FBI agents have established that the Watergate bugging incident stemmed from a massive campaign of political spying and sabotage conducted on behalf of President Nixon's re-election and directed by officials of the White House and the Committee for the Re-election of the President.
The activities, according to information in FBI and Department of Justice files, were aimed at all the major Democratic presidential contenders and -- since 1971 -- represented a basic strategy of the Nixon re-election effort.
During their Watergate investigation, federal agents established that hundreds of thousands of dollars in Nixon campaign contributions had been set aside to pay for an extensive undercover campaign aimed at discrediting individual Democratic presidential candidates and disrupting their campaigns."

17. DLC is the corporate wing. There is no doubt about that.
I think they are well meaning actually. They've seen the public vote time and again for extreme corporate stooge Repugs. They believe by making the Democrats seem more corporate friendly, we can become a solid majority. Sadly, they are gravely wrong.

Instead of helping the Democrats regain power, they are useful to the right wing in preventing that very thing. They make us look hopelessly divided, indecisive, and ineffective. DLC is not alone in the party having this effect, but they are the major problem.

18. Some polls to support the OP:
Edited on Fri Feb-24-06 02:58 PM by bvar22
In recent polls by the Pew Research Group, the Opinion Research Corporation, the Wall Street Journal, and CBS News, the American majority has made clear how it feels. Look at how the majority feels about some of the issues that you'd think would be gospel to a REAL Democratic party:

1. 65 percent say the government should guarantee health insurance for everyone (Universal Single Payer) -- even if it means raising taxes.

2. 86 percent favor raising the minimum wage (including 79 percent of selfdescribed "social conservatives").

3. 60 percent favor repealing either all of Bush's tax cuts or at least those cuts that went to the rich.

4. 66 percent would reduce the deficit not by cutting domestic spending but by reducing Pentagon spending or raising taxes.

5. 77 percent believe the country should do "whatever it takes" to protect the environment.

6. 87 percent think big oil corporations are gouging consumers, and 80 percent (including 76 percent of Republicans) would support a windfall profits tax on the oil giants if the revenues went for more research on alternative fuels.

7. 69 percent agree that corporate offshoring of jobs is bad for the U.S. economy (78 percent of "disaffected" voters think this), and only 22% believe offshoring is good because "it keeps costs down."

8. Over 60% of Americans believe the Iraq War was a mistake, and favor withdrawal.

Please note that these polls represent ALL Americans, not just Democrats.
The DLC is not just out of the mainstream, but represents and EXTREME minority.
Unfortunately, the SMALL MINORITY represented by the DLC can BUY a lot of influence.

21. Actually, Sir
They are just people who disagree with you about the best stragtegies with which to defeat Republicans. They may be wrong or they may be right, but your characterization of the matter is simply nonesense. It is far from a constructive criticism, and is aimed in fact at imflaming the dicourse here, and provoking fellow forum members.

24. Hear Hear, sir.
I may be opposed to those views, but they ARE democrats, and they ARE rightwing. But EXTREME?

Howard Dean once said he doesn't worry about the DLC's influence, because in mainstream America where he thinks we should be working, no one knows who the DLC is or what they do. He talked ME in off the ledge, perhaps we can do the same for others.
