Giving the rightwing Xtian nut jobns what they want?
I read a little ditty a while back about "framing the debate". There is something to this outbreak of debate on religious scripture, Jesus and how is relates to public policy thats got me down. Im not just talking about Republicans but Democrats who want in on the action as well. This whole debate seems to be about who has the lock on this stuff to better legislate public policy.

So I got to thinking. What about the Buddha? What about Confuscious? How about Mohammed?

We live in a secular society so I don't see why those guys shouldn't have a dog in the debate. I just see debating this Christian Scripture babble as playing the game by their rules. There are many other religious figures with much to say on issues of public policy as well. Not to mention the one most left out; Native American Deities.

They seemed to have tended the country best before we got here.

1. How about the Greek Gods? Or the Celtic Pantheon?
Hell, you want to debate theology, go to an atheist or a pagan. Many members of both groups have studied the bible and the history of Christianity in far more depth than the average Christian.

Not to say that there aren't some left-leaning Christians out there who recognize the difference between the teachings of Christ and the way his message has been twisted, and are acting to oppose the religious right, but I'm not sure we can gain any real ground with people who have been raised to believe that only THEIR way is right, and everyone else, including those who follow other Christian sects, are on the bullet train to Hell.
