Sometimes being on the right side of an issue can be good politics also. Is this one of those times? So what if Bush and the Repubs screw up royally, shouldn't their opponents profit from such screwups and shouldn't they have to pay for their idiocy? Is UAE a real "national security" threat or they just another business looking to make a killing in the free market? Isn't it possible that they can want to make a profit and want to blow up some shit also? Or does being a good capitalist prohibit any type of violence?

1. Don't forget, OSAMA came from a family of 'good capitalists' .

2. Now there's the $64,000 question. What if they get the contract,
and down the road both countries have a falling-out? What happened to, "we're fighting them over there, blah blah blah."
As witnessed by our earlier friendship and weapons deals w/Saddam, it could happen.
I hate sounding like a bigot, racist, or any such name, but after 5 years of continual terra being thrown in the faces of Americans, this new move to line their pockets doesn't sit well.

3. everything is politics
I think this is an issue of hypocrisy. Bush's to be exact. He's been invoking 9/11 to his benefit since, well, 9/11/01. Enough. Bush is either for us - national security - or against us - schmoozing with those intimately involved in 9/11 and terrorism for the almight buck.

We have seen which side he has come down on, now the Dems need to exploit that politically.

4. It's also a CLASS issue
as the working class sees another bunch of good jobs going to foreigners while they hustle fast food or wonder if they can get food stamps for another few months to help eke out that Walmart paycheck.

Make no mistake, for most folks out here in flyover country, this IS the issue. The fact that Dubai is an iffy choice for security reasons just makes the slap in the face that much harder to take.

5. I said on another thread a day or two ago to the effect of...
I'd rather that Democrats not jump on this because two wrongs don't make a right and because appealing to ignorance just because that's what Bush likes to do doesn't make it right.

I also said I doubted anyone would care what I think.

I got a reply that said "You are right. Just be a little more cynical." if I recall correctly.

Who cares about being right. It's good politics.
