I think the whole "free speech" thing enrages him, the fact that we ("the people") have a constitutional right to criticize him if we want to. I think he does know. He does so hate criticism and opposition that a lot of what he has done in reaction to criticism over Katrina and the war in Iraq is like a two year old throwing a tantrum.
