Scooter notes ID'd CIA spy

Scooter notes ID'd CIA spy

BY JAMES GORDON MEEK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - Handwritten notes taken by the CIA show Vice President Cheney's top aide knew the name of CIA spy Valerie Plame a month before her cover was blown.

It appears to be the first known document in the hands of prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald that directly contradicts Lewis (Scooter) Libby's claim he learned from reporters in July 2003 that Valerie Plame was a CIA employee.

Snip..

The filing suggests Cheney may have been present when Libby griped to his CIA briefer about agency officials slamming the veep in the press.

Seven officials have testified that Libby raised the CIA spy with them before columnist Robert Novak outed her. In the filing, Fitzgerald also revealed that his investigators also confiscated computers.

2. I see an orange jumpsuit in Libby's future
So Cheney is thinking of retiring?
To a $3million/year job as a Haliburton consultant?

I wonder if Haliburton owns any offshore facilities out of which Cheney can 'consult' and simultaneously avoid extradition.

4. The article is somewhat confusing and misleading
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 09:11 AM by leveymg
Several weeks ago, Libby testified before the GJ that Cheney was indeed his original source, not reporters, as Scooter had originally testified. He said he had learned Plame's identity from the Vice President about a month before Plame was named in Novak's July 14, 2003 column.

What's newsworthy here is the handwritten notes and the fact that Libby and Cheney together were talking to one of seven CIA officials about Plame before she was outed. This corroborates Libby's testimony that Dick was part of the outing conspiracy, and that Dick did not learn about Plame from Scooter, as Dick told Fitzgerald. Liar, liar.

This is yet another nail in Dick's Obstruction of Justice coffin. Cheney is going to leave office under indictment, well before 2007.

7. If the truth ever comes out, it will be a tale of tracking Wilson to Plame

and then scheming to out Plame through journalists.

These guys knew exactly what they were doing, every step of the way. This didn't happen accidently. They schemed every step of it.
